[WIP] Dungeon crawler graphics

on: August 17, 2011, 02:58:26 pm
Hey guys, I started these sprites and tiles a couple of months ago, and I only just got some time to start working on them again.
I'm pretty much stuck and I would love to hear your insights and opinions.

thank you.

I like these a lot, they're very well done. I do think that it could benefit by having a border of bricks along the edges and back of the walls like the front so they flow better. You'd need a couple more tiles but I think it's worth it.

@Atnas
thanks for the feedback Atnas.

Here are some changes I made with your feedback. What do you guys think?

As you can see I also included the font I did for the game.

I think this is really good for what it is. I would make the torches emit light that strikes the wall around it ( if thats to be done in game, perhaps show a quick mock up of the effect?). If you want to keep things classical, I don't think theres a need to push things farther; However, multiple tiles to break up the monotony of the floor and the introduction of 45 degree walls is a possibility.

The pixel technique in all of this is delightful.

Nice necro there! :P

I do wonder what happened with this though since I really like the look of these tiles.
The minotaur is really cool too!

I really like the feel of the walls. A little detail question, however:

The "roofs" seem hollow when the far side bricks  are totally visible. Hope you know what I mean. It seems
that if the top bricks go higher than the roof level they would cast some shadow?
