I spent a day trying to make a dirt tile, I have been having problems trying to get the dirt effect.

It does indeed look like dirt. However, there's an evident vertical seem it the tile.

Looks very washed out, make the dark areas darker and more warmth to the highlights.

I liked your first dirt much better, this one has an even stronger grid and less character. It just needs a little more fiddling is all, nothing drastic.
