Darkest shade of red appears lost in the middle shade (contrast too low). The twig colour also kinda fails to stand out from the red or the grey background.

Sticking to shading on the apple skin only, and nowhere else? That's okay as a choice, but it looks inconsistent when the skin has 4 (though effectively 3...) shades and the rest just 1.

You could put that pink to use to AA between the skin and flesh (Like in Atnas's).

At least it looks like an apple already. Atnas, your apple looks like a plum or a cherry!

AA = anti-aliasing. It's when you smooth a harsh edge between two colours by placing a third colour in strategic places. See Atnas's apple: the dots and lines of middle red at the edge where the two large areas of light and dark shades of red meet.

This tutorial is relevant and worth reading. But skip the section on 'sel-out'.

Also, it's totally ok to have outlines.

Knowing is half the battle. :blind:

AA is meant to use an in-between color (or colors) to blend the edges where colors meet. Bright red certainly does not fall between dark/medium red and gray. Try grayish red. :y:

To be honest, e4r's edit doesn't add anything to it. :) But! Your newer examples are definitely improving - by using a grayish red, as said before, it will be almost right! ;D To get the AA better, just play with it a bit and see what works!

So if i understand, the AA colors has to match the background and the
line art (the line that covers the pixel art i don't know whats its name)
color one lighter and darker?

Edit*
p.s The patience is killing!

Yeah I didn't know he wanted anything to add. So I just messed with the colors made the shadow side of the apple more dark and tried defining it more, but I don't think i worked out like I planned haha, Makes it look more rounded to me, but that could just be me.
