Pixelation IRC Channel

Hey everyone... wanted to let you know of a new, official Pixelation IRC Channel... something that we've been meaning to get together forever, though thankfully, that void has been filled by an unofficial one for the last couple years (and they've done a great job of it). We aren't trying to replace that one, simply try to provide more venues for people to get critique, information, a great night on the town, or just idle (if that's your preference).

It is located at: virtual.dyc.edu:6667 #pixelation The other IRC chat is still located at: irc.sorcery.net:6667 #pixelation and we of course don't discourage it's use. We're simply trying to create a comprehensive pixel art network, and this is a step further to that goal.

Dangnabit. All my free time for IRC is during the day (office drones have lots of spare time) and it's freaking firewalled. 

I'll have to find some time at night to get on.

Not that I'm trying to cause any more strife than there ever should be over this or anything, but the 'other' channel has been established and been well-run for quite a while now. I think the new, 'official', chat, is a rather poor sported move.

I can respect if you're trying to protect someone's identity, but at the same time perhaps they should have posted that themselves. If that''s how you felt, you should have formulated a statement on your own. So what's the point?

Its like this, how many chats for say, some other same subjects, are there? I still personally think the chat should've been named like pixelopolis, even if the forum is being changed, but oh well. Just learn to idle in 2 channels people -_- I'm freaking on 3 networks at a time, with like 8 channels running, if you can't do over one, then just pick on room, stick to it, and don't complain guys =( I'ts just gonna start big stupid fights(LOLE! INTEARWEB WARZ)

It was bad last time, and it would probably be best for it to be avoided at (almost) any cost.

We have an offical chat now? I though we decided two years ago that that was a bad idea.

In terms of expanding the workload for moderators, yes, there was no interest in setting up a channel with officiating connected to the forum, which was Tsugumo's decision.

As the current manager, I'm providing a more pixel art oriented channel, with more direct/instant critique, which the new channel is doing alright with. Fortunately, we need virtually no operator moderation on the channel, and the Forum itself has been really harmonious as of late so the strain of operations is very low and is givng us time to find other ways to improve the site in general.

Yeah, a pixel-oriented channel was definitely in order.  As I recall last I was there (and I used to spend quite a bit of time in there), the unofficial chat was just full of programmers talking about anime and how hard it is to get laid (coincidence?!), except for the occasional geeky traditional media related chat with Noadi :p
