Online pixel animation program

on: September 30, 2011, 01:41:25 pm
Hello all,

Although I have frequented this forum for many years, I rarely post. However, I thought it might be interesting to you to know that I have programmed a fairly complete browser-based pixel animation program, called Animaki.

It has only just become available, so not many animations have been made with it yet. However, you can see some very basic examples here:
http://www.oekaki.nl/oekaki.html?post=124389#p124389

The website is in Dutch, which may be a problem, but the program itself is in English. You can try it out here:
http://www.oekaki.nl/oekaki.html?do=doodle (select "Animaki" from the "applet" menu)

If you create a user account, you'll also be able to load your saved animations. Otherwise, you'll have to finish them in a single session. Sorry about that, but there's not much I can do about it.

Some technical specs:
- It's made with Javascript and HTML5. Tested with Opera and Firefox. Other modern browsers (i.e. Chrome) should work too, but are untested. Most likely it will not work in Internet Explorer, because generally speaking nothing ever does.
- Up to 256 colors can be used. These colors can also be (semi)transparent. New colors are added to the palette automatically when you use them.
- Since it's made with Javascript, some features are limited. For example, it is not possible to paste image data from another program.

Here's a screenshot (sorry about the sloppy art, it's a work in progress):

I hope you'll give it a try, and have fun doing so!
