Hey,

I want to practise on bigger images, so I made this:

I get stuck on the shading. Could you give me some advice about that?

I think you should clean up the line work, you should be able to improve the pose.
Especially the arms need work and also the head.

I would first lose the black lines on the inside of the object as it will just make it harder to shade it, just make it blocks of base colour and add shader afterwards.
One you have done that, you can use the trick (i recently redisovered) of selecting for example the coat with lasoo then press ctrl-h to hide the mask, and paint just inside the coat area with various colours.
This stops it from going outside the line work or his face etc.
Some people also use a separate layer under or over and play with blending options but I never really tried it out...

Is he supposed to be wearing a trench coat? Right now he looks like he's wearing parachute pants tucked into boots. Also, the arms are too curved.

Thank you for your tips. Here's a new version:

-New head
-New arms

@ Decroded
I this what you mend by 'lose the black lines on the inside of the object'

Yeah thats it but you still have some.
Try not drawing lines to indicate where his nose is for example, just use darker shades of colour where the shadow.
Even where the collar meets his face, lose the black line.
He is still standing funny especially his arms and no one stands with their feet like that.
Make his right foot (out left) more straight at the camera instead of pointing outwards.

And what's with his head? Is it supposed to be a block head?
You need to really reduce the size of it.

You also have to clean up the lines, lots of messy pixels.
