forum smilies

on: April 26, 2006, 12:02:42 pm
well - i haven't had much time to update my snowman, but i'll get around to it sometime.  I made these in the short amount of free time that i do have though.  I made about 4 a day so far.  If you guys wanna help make some feel free.

PS - why do we have non-pixel smilies on a pixel forum, eh?

I can really see anything wrong with them, and I really like the design of them.
SO, no crits from me.

I think this forum should be using them.

These are the shit. If you have no prob with it i will install em later sans the white outline and the outer aa (which works nice, i tried).

Everyone is encouraged to make nice ones from this template and good ones will be used (if indigo is ok with it)

Yes these are much, much better than the default ones, plus, pixel art smileys for a pixel art forum, yes. Motion seconded.

Really nice job, but they are too typical imo.

Simple changes - like increasing the size of the mouth, or exaggerating the eyes - would really make them stand out. They just don't look much different from what I normally see.

I hope I didn't piss you off too much, just stating my opinion.  :-[

They're awesome, i've never been able to make smilies with so much life. It'd be pretty cool to have them as the general forum smileys.

Made a lil one aswel,

I really like these personally, and would love seeing them used. I felt my time was free enough, so I made some minus the outline/outer aa
(all of these could probably use major work, so feel free to edit indiscriminately)...and a big to you for getting things started!

wow - I just got home from school - I had no idea that you'd like em this much.  I was thinking about posting this as an activity for the community since i've been a bit inactive as far as being a Daijin.  Maybe this should be moved to there?  thanks all for the kind comments.

TinyGiant:
I absolutely LOVE them, haha.  They fit the style i was going for very well.

Ptoing:
lol - i read it as "these are shit!" too - just like Adarius.  I'm glad you like em.  And i think i'm not understanding something; what are you saying about the white outline and AA?  Oh, and I'd have no problem with these being used for this forum.  it'd be an honor actually.  Dig in people, and start making some smilies!

Darion:
nah, you didn't piss me off.  You have some great advice in there.  I tried to go with disney style eyes, and keep the mouth higher up on the face to keep the style a little different than other smilies, but i guess it's not all that noticable.  The problem i have now, is I just dont want to rework it- if you know what i mean.  They may be a bit generic, but they're good enough, and since not many are complaining- I wont bother.

Lawrick:
Nice! definately worthy of being a forum smiley! I love it.

Tremulant:
I like em alot, but they're in quite a bit of a different style than the rest.  I really do like em, but they dont seem to fit in as well.  Maybe its because you used the white color in different ways then I did.  BUT MAN! that kissy one is perfect!  that ones a keeper.  Are people not liking the white outline and AA?

Everybody:
Start makin smilies! yay!

EDIT: =================
something weird just happend to me.  I just so happend to refresh the page at this particular time.  It must mean i'm gunna get married.

Actually I thought it looked cool, and personally I think white outlines can make a piece really stand out, but as ptoing said he'd implement them without...
It does get kind of lost though, since the forum has such a light background anyway. Or are there other themes?
