Kill the Unpaid Jobs Board

on: February 08, 2011, 04:19:15 am
Honestly, why is there one even on the site? No one is going to work for free from here. I would say 99.9 percent of the threads have 0 replies and the ones that do are fairly rare. So, because of the unlikelihood of anyone working for free, I think that it should be removed. Unless of course it's a clever way of not cluttering up the paid jobs thread. And a simple fix would be to delete unpaid jobs outright from the thread. Since no one is going to work for free. That's just my reasoning. What do you think?

If at the very least it keeps the requests out of other threads and/or sections.

I voted for NO. I don't even like the idea of them being removed  :-\

No one is going to work for free from here.
For example i've worked on couple unpaids just to gather something for my portfolio in order to get paid jobs someday.

I would say 99.9 percent of the threads have 0 replies and the ones that do are fairly rare.
There may not be replies that you see on topics mainly cause people usully email to them or send a PM here.

and don't ya just love seeing some cool projects/ideas that people have in mind? i do  :) and anyway money's just a tool that everyone doesn't need.

No need to shut this section down, itīs not like it takes away resources from the [PAID]-board.
As already said, no replys in the topic itself isnīt necessary an indicator for lack of interest. I would say quit a few artist work for free on smaller projects all the time, but it is understandable that artist will work only on projects that are interesting to them.
Meaning it is the job of the topic starter to create interest for their game and itīs also important to think in realistic dimensions here, It is highly unlikely a good graphic artist, who can usually find paid jobs, will work in their free time on some mmorpg or something along these lines.

Yeah, seriously, why?

It keeps the paid section free of unpaid stuff (mostly) and it does not hurt anyone, like Reo pointed out already.
It's pretty unlikely it will go away.

It had a yes vote before anything else, so I'm guessing that he did.
