[WIP] Octopus

on: January 21, 2011, 01:23:28 am
I really don't know where to go from here, I've never done background/scenery in my pieces, so it's got me stumped.  :blind:

Im just starting out with pixel art, but I suggest making the cave looking a bit more rugged and rocky. It seems to smooth to be in a dangerous yet peacefull ocean filled with the wear and tear of the current.

I like this quite a bit so far. I like the original placement more though.

|||| is right, the cropped frame does not do it any good. It feels to cramped. If you are going for a deep see darkness kinda thing it would work better to have quite a bit of blackness around and esp on the top, to show the vast emptiness.

Just put some tiny fish here and there which are hardly visible.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

I also agree. The use of space was bad. I'd add even more space. Go for at least a 4:3 ratio rectangle, not a plain square. Give it some horizontal feel.

Cure read my mind, too. Especially with how he reduced the "tension" between the octo and angler fish.

The angler's fish's thingamabob is the sole source of light. I don't know that I agree with how it's light is being received by the octo and sea floor. Boost that murky haze element. No AA? Come on now.
