Not bad for your first attempt. Perhaps it's worth looking at other examples on this site that show how other people have tackled the same visual problems.
There is form in the trunk, but the leaves are very flat. The tree's bark could do with some texture and the roots don't look realistically drawn.
Perhaps the addition of a shadow on the grass? At the moment the grass adds to the 1 dimensional feel of the leaves.
