This sprite is awfully bland. He's supposed to be a farmer a la Harvest Moon, but yeah...


EDIT: A little better but could still use some C & C...? I need help with that sweater! It still looks bland.

Oh, my...

Well, first thing is, that the contrast between shades is too drastic, especially for the skin. try bumping those darker colors up a bit. After that, it should look ok.

The shading doesn't look right. Every part on him just seems to start light then get darker as it goes down. Try picking a direction from which the light is shining then work off that.

Based on the shadow on his forehead, the light source is from above. So, his hat should be a lot lighter. Those couple of diagonal pixels are bugging me on the shirt and pants, I suggest you take them out. I think the perspective is a little off on the hat, but I'm not sure about that.  Also, he has no neck, so you might want to give him one . Cigar/ wheat thing coming out of his  mouth is hard to read. Good luck!

the perspective on the hat isnt so much off, as the whole friggin hat is.
The dome on the top of the hat should be the part that is actually contacting his head, and thus should be somewhat following the contours of said head... right now for this to make any sense, his head would have to suddenly become a quarter the width it is every where else.
