Santa Force [WIP]

on: December 09, 2010, 06:00:08 am
I didn't plan to show my progress on this publicly for national security reasons, but seeing as this forum is so dead lately ( since when did you all get a life? ) I figured I might as well.

That's the grinch ( who allegedly stole christmas ) on the left. I am not sure whether he will be wringing his hands or holding a weapon, or what, yet. You should know who the guy on the right is.

I know it's rough, but the basic structure should be fairly clear. If you see any glaring errors feel free to tell me, or make an edit.

I think my next update will be on the background.

*EDIT*

I started to make a background, but then I had second thoughts on the design. Seems to small and domestic. So I'm thinking on this one. Here it is anyway.

I think it'd be more appropriate to have a battle on a snowy rooftop  >:D

I think the view is so narrow that it would be hard to make a rooftop look like a rooftop and not the deck of a ship or something.

Here is where I am going with the background:

I guess it's a town at christmas time. I thought of making a "whoville" type background but I have no freaking clue how to do that :blind:

Last Update before bed:

*Update on the grinch part*

He's wielding a candy cane mace and he will be holding a wreath for a shield.

Hopefully I can get away with a tiny bump here to show my progress.

Shown without the background to showcase the characters. If anything looks wildly off let me know.

In case noone noticed its supposed to look like a shining force 2 battle screenshot, except christmasy :)

I'm done for the night, here's how far I got:

Got pretty far on Santa, not much on the Grinch though.

I can't wait to see how this develops. It's nice how you started from such gestures.

Wow it's all going very very well, nothing that strikes me as odd, the poses are great and have tons of character and funniness. The only thing that seems off is the ribbon on the wreath, I think it should be a bit tighter/indented more, but it doesn't really have to be because it could work like it is now. I had to look VERY hard to even think about noticing that, so you're doing awesomely. Good luck with this.

Probably the final post here, I'll finish the rest privately. If you have any crits let me know now.

I changed the grinch's face around a lot trying to get a better grinch look. I have a newfound respect for Chuck Jones work, I used to think he sucked. Not so when you study his work closely.
