Swordsman [C&C appreciated]

on: November 24, 2010, 10:59:41 am
I'm working on this character who may or may not make it into an RPG-type game I'm designing. I haven't started animating him yet, that'll happen later.

I based him off a sketch I did which can be found here.

It took me a while to figure out where I'd seen this before, then I read the username.

It still looks nice, glad to see that you are getting some help with this.

I'll state the same comments I stated then, too. You could use some better methods of shading, and colors that contrast each other a little more. Your shading is just dithered gradients, which does not look very good.
On a simpler note, the right arm looks a bit too small.

Something this small doesn't really need dithering (unless you're making chainmail or something). I'd ditch the dithering entirely, and watch the use of black, especially on the interior of the sprite. banding on the sword could use a second look. your skintones need more contrast and more hue-shifting (don't want three shades of the exact same hue). They're also kinda dull and yellow.
