Looks nice, but some of the shortcuts you're using in the animation are hurting the overall effect. Like moving the upper legs up and down without changing the lower legs ( on the idle animation ).

I think it's pretty cool. However, the animation should be sped up a little a lot, JUST when he is in the motion of stabbing. Also the colors on his skin could be changed, but that's just me.

Great point, I didn't even notice it.   It was awful around the knees  :'(

I'd speed-up at the end, right now, Im kinda enjoy the 'slow-motion'.  I'm really interested at what skin palette everybody uses, let me know :)

Here's my pallete I'd use to replace skin tones, when you use it though, you should make the shadows on the abs less deep.

EDIT: and I would replace simaler looking tones, etc.

I added your palette, while it certainly look nice
i feel it clash too much with the gold color on the armor.
what do you think?

I think that this gladiator is great, very lifelike and very nice animations.

The skin, in my opinion, is too pink and saturated. Skin is usually more of a dull peach-ish color.

This is what I'm talking about.
My edit is far from good, I just wanted to show my point. The dull color adds for some more realism and allows for the armor to be more of a feature than it was.

I don't understand the change from baggy hip pants in the sketch to super-muscular legs in the end result. I enjoy the animation with the hip pivot for the sword thrust a lot, but did this guy really need superthighs?

Thank you! and I love how you make the skin color! Yours is certainly a lot better
I will try to put it in soon :)

Glad you like it!

I guess my sketch wasn't clear enough, so here is the story:
The idea was to do some "super hero" kinda guy with realistic gladiator equipments
and with some over-the-board action. So I looked at 300(movie) for reference
I even made a few varieties

Then I feel the costume wasn't too right, so I went on doing research for equipments
and types of gladiator, and some documentary suggest their leg muscles are highly developed.
I guess that is where the super thigh original came from :)

I am not very good with anatomy, especially when the muscles are moving. Exposing the
thigh is also partially because id like to practise animating muscles. Please C&C

BTW, your blog looks awesome

Thanx. I guess you are right about it clashing with the armor.
