Chibi Taiga Aisaka

on: October 06, 2010, 07:11:35 am

Hello, this is my first time posting in Pixelation, so I wanted to start it off with my most recent creation.
Here's an animated sprite I whipped up of ToraDora's Taiga Aisaka in chibi form, created in GraphicsGale.
Please give me your critiques!
I wish to be a tiger! :3

Welcome to Pixelation! :)

You're off to a good start. As far as the likeness goes, you may want to make her quite a bit skinnier. Also, it looks like her chin should be pointier.

In terms of pixelling, there are several areas which could benefit from some AA, especially the hair and face. Watch out for banding too.

A reference picture for Taiga in abit chibi mode? =3
It might help with some people who are unfamiliar with the character of Taiga Aisaka.
Your own style isn't the same, but the characteristics are still the same. :)

But as previous said, it's a good start.

Ps: Love Tora Dora.^^

Edit: Lower one is better.

I think it would be more appropriate to use official artwork for reference rather than another artist's stylized interpretation...

Check the way the jacket closes in front. Also, the cuffs of the white shirt slightly peak out from the sleeves of the jacket.

I got my references from watching the show she comes from. But yeah, I drew her in my own style. I'll try to keep in mind what you've pointed out so far.

Made some minor improvements. Is it any better?

In my honest opinion, it's great. :D
She has that frown she's famous for, the hair is alittle odd, try and add in the "shade" like on the reference on the backside hair. But that's about it.

I think the animation looks backwards, I'd expect the skirt bow and hair to flair out on the down motion, not the up motion.
