[WIP] steampunk environment

on: September 02, 2010, 03:10:42 pm
Hello, i'm actually working on a funny steampunk platform game, i'll post some of my works to have critics

i'm looking for some graphism with few details but cool ambiance : all graphisms i'll make will be cave / metallic device / victorian (=castelvania) door and object (elevator etc)
I'm trying to make level like demon's crest style

this is part of cave tileset with root, (32x32 case for each square of map). there are many variants

So please give me some help with your experience or suggestions (link or other)

Add another frame to the fire animation, and recoil that affects the lil' dude.
And for the steam, have it be more *puffs coming out* instead of a smoker breathing.
The gun itself looks off too, not detaily enough. Take a look at the M1919 for a bit inspiration.
Photocopier: the fact that arne can also code so well
Photocopier: is horrificly unfair

For some interesting detail, have the pressure needle fly wildly around when shooting.

You could also make the fire light appear on the helmet when it's shooting since it would make it look more intense detailed out then :).

interesting shapes for the rocks, but the scratches just don't work. I'm afraid they use colors that are too far away from each other.

As for the main guy, he's breathing kinda heavily, so you might want to make the gun move with him as he breathes.

Look out for the outlines around the gun, since you don't have outlines on the character the two styles don't quite match.

Watch out for banding on the gun.

You should have the puffs move upwards to the left, then gradually dissapearing.
