on: July 17, 2010, 08:13:28 pm
I've been doing a sidescroller/adventure game for sometime now. Here's some tiles i've done now got more but i'd rather not post 'em here yet now  :)

and here's the main char running animation:

Tile size is now 16x16 but in game the graphics will be about 2x larger than now :-\ so zoom in and give some crits and comments :)

The fires in the fourth tile set need to not look like a foreground to avoid confusing the viewer.
Rest is alittle bit too little to give any further critique nor comments. ^.-

I think your interactables need to stand out a little more. The chest and, to a lesser extent, the sign blend too much into the background. Same goes for the lizardy dude.

Also, you could darken up his right hand. Just a bit. It just almost looks white.

I don't think what you're doing with the wallpaper background is working. Mainly because you just tiled something, and that creates noise. Darkening the backdrop helped with this, but now it's barely visible. Would it really be that different from just a solid black?

What I recommend is to design a backdrop with some sort of function, maybe some variation in the tiles, things like candles, statues, and you know, stuff like that.
