sprites in 3/4 [WIP]s

Long story short,
I would like a job, and while this caught his attention, I'm going to have to make a different sprite.

However, I'm new to 3/4 pixelating, so I thought I'd better get some feedback (may add walking animations & props in the near future).

I'm also working on the ol' tree again.  I'm placing leaves, but they just don't pop out like they ought.  Any help?
