[WIP] Isometric Saloon

on: July 09, 2010, 04:55:03 pm
I have been working on this saloon for a while now, fiddling with it and what not. Pretty basic four wall building, nothing too fancy. This is my first real isometric work. Tell me what ya'll think about it. Anything I can work on?

It's an OK start, but you have some issues there.

You have some serious MC Escher action going on on the inside of the saloon. We should be seeing the back wall and not floor just happily going on into nowhere.
It could also need more contrast. Also I am sure you can find lots of references for actual old saloon buildings which you could look at.

The blue neon tube stuff also is not very readable at a glance either, again mainly because of contrast. Having a brighter painted board in the back and some big painted black letters saying saloon in some oldschool western font would look better I think.

Just some ideas. Keep at it.  :y:
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Alright well I fixed the back of the saloon. (So there is a back wall)

More contrast where? Everywhere?

I filled the "A" in and kept the "O" flashing, trying to kinda make it more modern-ish. If you still think it isn't as easy to read, I'll change it, I just wanted to see what you think when only one letter was out.
