USA Space Marine

on: June 22, 2010, 03:14:21 am

I'm working on this for the challenge at pixeljoint, so I have a week. I think it will be plenty of time though. I was thinking of putting a dead body in the background, but there's not really enough room... errr I hate small canvas's like this. As you can see the shot from the gun is cut off, so do you think I should just have him not shooting?   thanks in advance.

Hi!

I have a problem with your arms/forearms, seems not "readable" enough to me, It may be caused by your large lighting areas (metal bracelets?) that prevent rest of the arms to be visible.

you're character doesn't seem to be in the same perspective as the platform

thanks for the crit!
@anarkhya- yeah those are metal bracelets. I think I'll take them off so the arm is more readable.
@xbogx- oh crap that's a big problem isn't it... does that mean I have to redo the sprite?

ok i worked up an update :

I took out the reflection of the bullet shot just so the colors of the team are easier to see and more readable.  I think im almost done, but more critique is appreciated. thanks.

The saturation of the soldier seems way too high; try cutting the saturation value by half, at least.

- arms/forearms are ... yes, more readable but not enough IMO. Sadly, I have nothing to suggest for improving, maybe tweak soldier contrast? Dunno...
- a few aliasing on right shoulder edge needs quick correction.
- about the saturation as WM stated, I maybe agree, here is an edit, gently lowering sat in dark blue:

your call, now.

Ah just letting you know you ARE allowed to change the background. Try shifting to a yellow or something to help the guy pop more. :)
