32x32 Tilesets tutorial/programs?

on: June 07, 2010, 03:02:44 am
Hello there :3
(I believe I'm posting this in the right place... sorry if I'm not.)

I've got an old friend of mine who asked me to help him make a hugggeee tileset for a game he has in the works.
They would be 32x32 tiles, and there would be a metric f-ton of them.

I'm super excited to be on his project and want to give it my best shot, I've messed around with making tiles in RPG maker and such, but I'm no pro and am not sure where to start... I'd like to do this right.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials, or programs for making tilesets?(I believe for the actual game he's using Game maker...7? Not sure on the number)

My Google-fu lead me to these awesome forums, as well as this guide that uses the Mother 3 tileset as an example(which I love the hell out of) but the guide is more on how to apply/use tile sets rather then create them. http://dcmsoftware.net/GMG/Tutorials/Using_Tiles/

Thank you in advance!

This thread has a lot of good info on tiling.
I make actual NES games. Thus, I'm the unofficial forum dealer of too much information about the NES
