@delibird; i'm not sure if delibird has a shimmer like penguins or distinct feathers like other bird, but from reference pictures i'd go with penguin. one thing i would do is imply the effect of feathers.
i literally have no idea how to do this

I think he means put that typical jaggedy anime hair shimmer/shiny highlight line on it's body to imply smooth shiny feathers.

If you wanted to prevent further confusion with which char is which, simply number them. Then people can just call out the number.

I have one thing to say and one thing only...

Weaviles pose looks uninspired and not dynamic(was that 2 things?)  It's lacking in the action line department

Maybe something like this?

(sorry for the horrible edit)

EDIT:
Why would he need to look at the game sprites when he's looking at the large art pieces of them?

Just to get more inspiration :) it's a good site and has every pokémon game sprites. Sry. about the post if it offended you, looking good 1up.

wow 1up you really released my inner geek last night   from that bubapedia I went to pokemondb, from that to digimon and from that to Ben10 somehow :p

BTW, http://pokemondb.net/gallery has the pokemon in much more accesible format

Weaville's pose looks very very awkward, you have his arms creating a very clear action line....but that's it...the rest of the body doesnt seem to follow it very well, the torso is sorta swayed that way but not enough...the tail hanging so low doesnt help either. The head also looks very very weird, it looks a bit flat, look at the pokemon sprites it seems to be pontier than that

http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2006/05/animation-school-lesson-5-line-of.html I hope this shows you what I mean....also, look at his pokemon sprites the poses are better and the head is specially has much clearer volume
