Sexy Bounty Huntress: Samus Aran

on: March 21, 2010, 12:13:39 pm

Working on a pic of the oh-so-sexy Samus Aran in her trademark Varia suit.

Based off this picture by a Mr.Jackbot.
http://th01.deviantart.com/fs5/300W/i/2005/013/8/3/samus_aran_by_jackbot.jpg

Its still very much in the making, but input would help greatly

*Edit*
Just going to toss in the most recent version.

I think you should cut the dithering and work on a darker background, you're lacking some values and the lines are a bit wobbly.

*Update-y*
Removed the dithering like you suggested and cleaned up some of the wobbly lines.
Oh, and made a quick arm cannon too.

I still cant seem to get the her left arm to look like it belongs.  :yell:

Her background arm blends in with the chest too much. I took a while before I realized she actually does have two arms.

I don't like the fact that this is a 1:1 copy or trace. I don't mind it, especially since you don't try to hide it, but it's plagiarism and it doesn't actually improve your skills anatomy wise.

What is the piece for? Is it for a purpose or just for study?

@Gil
Yeah, the point of this picture was to study and play around with colors abit.

Here's my advice: change the light source to a different direction.

You are basing your interpretation of where the shadows are on someone else's interpretation. It's like translating a translated text.

If you want to get the maximum amount of learning out of this, try to redo the lighting conditions. Maybe go for something really cool you would love to do, make up a story about this picture.

Bring your own touch into it. :)

Update
Hope I'm heading in the right direction with the shading. I tried to go for a glowing like effect on the visor.
