Love Note

on: March 14, 2010, 05:58:56 am
More than anything else, it was a practice in pixelling handwriting with as few colors as possible. I ended up with three... or was it four? Maybe I could've used two, since it seems a tad blurry for my liking.

The blurryness in the font is what makes it look realistic :) good job

The writing does look quite blurry compared to the rest. Kinda makes it feel out of place, but maybe that's just me :P.
Try redoing it for fun with less colors to see how it turns out.

Have you ever thought about making your very own icon set?

An icon set would be awesome, I'd use it!

I don't think I've heard of that site before o:

I'll have to think of a theme and make one. I'll be sure to post once I do n_n

Doing icon design for work a few years ago is how I got started in pixel art, i'd recommend trying it, its a different kind of challenge and a lot of fun.

I thought so. Your designs are already very "iconic" in nature, and they're good, too. That, and your style consistency made me think of suggesting you do an actual icon set. Choose a theme and go for it. I think you'll like having a set theme to help structure your work into a cohesive whole. Might even be able to sell it, who knows.

Don't know if you use a layered graphics program or not, but here's an icon creation template I made a while back, which you can use an underlying layer while working. You might find it useful. I've linked you to a flattened version of a Photoshop file, it's all you really need. If you don't understand how icon files work, better do a little research before plowing into it too much. The program Microangelo is my preferred icon compiling program. I use Photoshop and Illustrator for all design, though you can draw in Microangelo if you want. The drawing tools are very basic.

Lookin' forward to the next chapter in your pixel-pushing. I love to see icons I've made used for desktop shortcuts and website favicons, etc.
