Uh, offtopic doesn't equal random, jerking-off  nonsense thread, I think?

Anyone here seen the recent mythbusters? For those who don't know of it, it's this show where they try to prove or disprove myths, urban legends, and the like.

Anyways, as it is shark week on dsicovery, MBs have decided to make sharks myths their theme for the show, a show which I can fully state, with absolutely no hyperbole, as being the peak of television entertainment. This very peak in question being a scene where one of the two hosts swims in shark infested water and PUNCHES any sharks that get near him to see if you can really scare away a shark by hitting it in the nose!!!! That's right, he FUCKING PUNCHES a shark in shark infested water while being surrounded by an additional 4-10 sharks. All the while being laughed at by the other fucking host who is swimming nearby in some sort of scuba suit thing.

It's absolutely the best thing you will ever see, and I recommend sitting your ass down, and watching, if you see this episode of MBs while flipping channels.

Let's do a card thing again. The first one was fun. ~_~

In the days that Pixelation was gone, my pixeling ability went downhill. Inversely my drawing skills improved. And now... it's time for my pixel  skills to go back up by picking up project Chain Effect again. Is this happening to anyone else?

BTW, Wisconsin is unusually hot this summer. Next year I predict that Wisconsin will have hot tropical weather. : (

That was Palace visual chat. And that can be fun.. Palace is old software... but there are second generation solutions.. maybe we'll host something like that in the future.

Whats better PSP or DS ?!?!?!

right now i think that DS is better because
psp had hardware flaws/bugs.

1. Pressing on the Right pad button, or the Square button, results in you actually putting pressure on the TFT screen itself. If Sony had increased the size of the unit by a couple centimeters, this wouldn't be a problem.

2. UMD disks ejecting in the middle of play for no reason. This has been admitted by Sony to be a problem which they "would fix", but I have seen no mentions of a fix anywhere.

3. Occasional lock-ups. My guess is heat-related, since the UMDs actually spin much like a CD-ROM, generating heat and general chaos inside of such a small unit.

Pretty sad bugs for such an expensive device. Am I telling you to go get a GBA DS? Hardly -- the DS is an amazing gimmick device (nice to see Nintendo focusing on such DOT-COM-like garbage...).

Anyways, my advice to potential buyers of the PSP is to wait. The price is bound to go down, the "bundle" package will sooner or later be thwarted, quantities will become available, and -- hopefully -- Sony will release a 2nd-generation version or updated model which will address the hardware flaws in question.

Do ou have a PSP or a DS, ::Naso::? Those points look like rumors and the like running around the net without the proper context.
1) If this were true, the square button wouldn't be able to make a signal to the circuit board making it useless. Judging by how little attention I see given to it several months after the PSP launch, I feel this is hardly the problem some people would like to make it.
2)Heard this too, but it would only happen if you twisted it hard, which I don't see any sane person doing to a several hundered dollar piece of electronics.
3) I'm having a hard time finding any google searches on lockups, as my searches are being polluted by links to PSP hacking sites. If this is a serious issue, though, I would doubt that Sony could sell over 2.5 million PSPs worldwide if the lockups were even close to being regular.

And I take offense to calling the Nintendo(not GBA) DS a gimmick, as that would imply that it's various capablilities(dual screens, microphone, touchscreen, etc.) hold no useful purpose. A fact that would be contrary to several titles already out - Mario 64, Yoshi Touch 'N' Go, Kirby Canvas Curse, Feel The Magic, etc. - and many other titles on their way like Nintendogs, Mario & Luigi 2, Animal Crossing DS to name a very small few.

This isn't exactly what I would call "Extreme" by any means. Heh. ;D

On to the current topic, however, I'm a firm believer that the DS has the potential to be a much better system than the PSP. Not because the DS has great hardware - actually, I'm pretty disappointed in that category - but because of the touch screen, microphone, GBA port, and dual-screens.  I don't really think that Nintendo sees it, but those together have the ability to make some very unique and far more interesting games than even the top of the line lineup (meaning, Yoshi's Touch & Go, Kirby: Canvas Curse, and Super Mario 64 DS) in my opinion. The DS is not just a system meant for minigames. Why is it being treated like one?

Game wise, the PSP probably has the DS beat. I don't know. But I'm not very excited with the games for the DS, since most of the best ones are simply minigames. Super Mario 64 DS was good, but, come on, it's just a slightly upgraded version of the 64 one. Yoshi's Touch & Go, to be honest, bored the hell out of me within minutes. Kirby: Canvas Curse is probably the best thing the system has seen yet, but it's still not "great." I am looking forward to some of the upcoming games, however, like Animal Crossing DS, Nintendogs, Metroid Prime: Hunters, etc.

So for me, it was basically that the DS wasn't no ridiculous sum of money and it has potential. Hell, anyone could basically brainstorm up a dozen great ideas for this system in just a few hours, if not less. If only some of those would come to fruition. :(

Heh. Not sure how hot that is compared to the normal summer temperature there, but it's been consistently 100+ here since about the beginning of May (that's about 37.8+ Celsius to those of you that don't use Fahrenheit). Of course, I live in a desert, and guess what happens? :P

I know how that feels, about the trees. We cut down ONE at our old home before we moved.. one, at the edge of a freaking forest, to get it out of the way for .. TV channel things and stuff. It made a difference. And 13 is a lot more than one...

On a completely unrelated note, I got Beatmania IIDX 9th Style last week! Wooo! My right hand ached a lot that day...

Hey, I have a problem.

Recently, my firefox crashed, and it did that thing where you need to pick a new account (like, choose your name from the list and stuff) and now firefox wants to download EVERYTHING. Like, it used to play quicktime movies in the browser window, now it wants to download them. It also tries to download .jpg files. I HATE THIS.

Is there a way to fix this? I don't know how to change firefox accounts.

So how about that Andy Milonakis?

Did you know he's actually 29? He was born in 1976. Just look on Wikipedia.

It's a crazy world. I thought he was like, 15.

And now for a little robot haiku by one of the Virtualites:

Bill Gates is too weak.
Sure, he can program robots,
But they'll turn on him.

Now do it the "real" way, in Japanese :P

Just a change to the topic, but since I have a bit of free time, I thought I could get a few movies, but since I'm not too much into that kind of stuff, I'm not really sure what to pick, so er... could you list or point out some nice/cool movies that you would recommend so I could buy/rent as DVDs?

But wait, doesn't the "real" way have to have all that stuff about seasons and things in them, too? I recall reading something about a real standard haiku or whatever has to at least hint at what season it takes place in...

Now... I just don't find that fun at all.

We'll most probably be soon taking back the official pixelation channel anyway, since there appear to be problems of recurring jerkdom. The channel will be operated and moderated by pixelation staff. People wanting to still keep hanging out in the unofficial rooms will be fine, though. This is not set! Depends on the server load etc etc, but probably. Pep will know soon.

NO!!! Please don't make an official version! PLEASE! I am on my knees and begging. I love the channel how it is now, and wouldn't have it any other way. If an official version does come out, I will officially boycott it, and try to convince others to do the same.  Please, please, don't officialize it.

And that has so little to do with actual ninja... And you can't tell me that's the first time you've seen that stuff? Sure, he's practiced and he's got the endurance, but a very small arsenal. Just catch the next chance you get at watching an actual tournament with martial arts like that, it's absolutely insane.

I saw some ninjutsu stuff on Eurosport once, a while ago. Can't remember the name of the event, but there were basically two guys "battling" it out like that, to music. Looks very much like some sort of stylized fight, but it's all just choreography. Then there was a team thing where a small group of people all did moves like that, timed with each other, to music of their choice and with matching clothes and accessories. My favorite group were the fluffy-pants bare-chested fellas with katanas...

... put simply: Martial arts kick ass. Literally.

But if someone who was really good at martial arts encountered someone else who was really good at martial arts on the street and got into a fight, what would it look like? I've never seen a real, unsupervised, unchoreographed fight between 'ninjas.'

It'd probably not look as cool, at all. Since, you know, it'd be WAY more brute force and as little unnecessary skipping as possible. I watched some people show their stuff on... whatever that Discovery show was called. Ohyeah. Body, Mind and Kick-ass Moves.

Basically, if two hyper-mega-ninja like that would meet up on a street and face off, it'd either be over within 6 mind-blowing seconds of subtle blurryness, or they'd just shake hands go have a beer. A special ninja-beer.

One of the major tricks to ninjaness is knowing your opponent, though, and if they met each other for the first time, none of them could do any of those neat controlling trick things. So I think it'd be mostly super-offense, try to get the first hit. And once the first hit impacts, the other fighter either goes down, or manages to foresee the situation, blocks, and takes his opponent down.

In other words, other than really quick, it's not really all that exciting.

speaking of street fights, the "blacker" guy is my new hero, and he even looks like mr-T a little! God I want to take him home and hug him and pet him and feed him a big baby bottle so he gets even stronger! Be sure to watch to the end to see the carnage of that left hook.

For a while? Hasn't it been like, a few days?

And I wasn't serious.

EDIT: Man, I had the coolest idea. Aren't stars cool? I'd like to drift through space until I die for the rest of my life. Like, in a spaceship filled with food, a television, good books, a computer with mega-high-powerred internet so that I could get on the internet from space, and a speaker system on the outside that would blast my theme song to earth directly.

i miss you all so much it feels like longer than a few days.
what is your theme song evan? ... anything to do with stairways?
if so, do you know that that song has had radio play time since it was released like the equivalent of 40 years or something...
could be wrong and it might be only a couple of years, in which case it  doesnt seem as impressive. oh well, sounds cool.

I'm still writing my theme song.

The purpose of the theme song is to blow the pants off of whoever listens to it.

What I mean by that is, when you hear it, your pants fall down.

It's a new genre, I think it'll hit the radio in a big way.

About having an official Pixelopolis/Pixelation chat, I'd say it's about time! In the current chat, whenever a problem arises with the forum or whatever, not much can be done about it and no one knows what's going on. So hopefully with it being official and all, news will get out faster and clearer to everyone.

Though just hanging out in the unofficial channel is pretty fun too. Good times! :3
