Thanks Philip, I added some selout to that area.

Heres the idle animation which I'm not too happy with mostly because I couldn't come up with a better idea and the lower torso doesn't move as much as I want it to...

And heres something more exciting, unsheathing of the gun!

Any CC would be appreciated. More to come! I want to do some uhh shooting and twisting next...

I'm not good at colours... I can't see the green shade can someone point it out for me?

I just went over the colors he used in photoshop (i always do this to screw around and try to rethink what choices the artist made) and noticed one of the greys he used in the mask had a slight green hue. Colors like white, grey and black are hardly ever just that; most of the time they have a bias toward one color (unless you work in RGB and do perfect greys like 115,115,115 which is unwise imo)... Afterall, in-order to get these colors, you need to have a mixture of hues.

ps I KNOW ABOUT CMYK, DONT MAKE ME HURT YOU  :mean:

Just made this guy this afternoon to use as my animation practice (which I will update on this thread!). It was a quick process; just blobbed out his form in black then added colors.

I settled with 24 colors, let me know what you think. Feedback on the feet, hands and color usage would be greatly appreciated!

I like it. All the usual techniques are done well, not much to critique on that area. Lightning is good (REFLECTED LIGHT YESS)! I would like to see more green hues in the grey part of the face though; just to give it that extra kick and contrast, don't have to go overboard. You already have one green shade in there.

Looking forward to seeing the animation. :o

trying my best on the colors..

melikey, looks all complementary so far.. mostly around blues and oranges; the contrast really brings out the foreground

Haha, I fully understand your "disorder"; might not be a bad thing though.

Lotta good things happening in this screenshot. I like what you did with the trees, sky and building; has a real painterly quality to it. But I would like to see the objects closer to the viewer more distinct. More AA or Cel-out on the HUD and characters would help this out alot.

The mountains in the background aren't really necessary, they seem abit out of place or a wasted element at this point. I would subdue them further into the distance.

Also, at first glance, the building seems abit out of perspective but I remember that it is and its okay to be out of perspective sometimes. It's good that you took the artistic initiative to do this; it gives the building a greater sense of height. False horizons happen all the time in 2d side-scroller games.

Just a quick critique~

I don't think the cycle is confusing at all. The frames where the arms and legs are perfectly horizontal are key to the character; taking these out would make it so dry. HE LOVES BEING A SHAPELY(pun?) BEING, can't you accept him for that? Okay, maybe I have some issues but the point still stands! Keep rolling with this, pto, I got your back (for now... muahah).

Err.. I can't add anything to VC and x86 gibberish..

I decided to turn this piece into a mockup title screen:

Great decision. That just made the piece, the composition is alot more interesting.

I'm not really familiar with the EGA palette so I'll leave those critiques to the experts.

You might want to take a second look at the lighting because the light from the new lamp should hit parts of his leg, shoe and shirt. The dim secondary lightning that you put in for the window isn't sufficient with the change. I'm not sure if you're in for a major change so maybe you could subdue the lamp alittle and move it further into the background or something to that effect.

I really like what you've done with the shading on his left arm; that part sticks out the most for me.
