I'll sign up, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do anything on the 19th.

I agree with Darion in that there is no single best program, but for myself, MSPaint has everything I need but animation support. Line and fill is all I use in paint, sometimed the paintbrush to make silouhettes. {sp!?} I had the GGale trial version a while ago, and it was good, (what I used to make my avatar), but the trial ran out and bleh.

it's just that I cringe whenever I see something like "short games suck."

Ah, sorry. I guess that came out wrong. I meant it angers me when a game is really fun, but doesn't last nearly long enough (Beyond Good and Evil.) But, of course, I'd rather play an awesome five minute game than a terrible 80 hr one. I'd just rather the awesome game be a bit longer, or at least have some unlockables to play around with. I beat the aforementioned BG&E in 2 days, and then there was nothing left to do. It was fun while it lasted, but now it's just collecting dust.
That's what I meant to say. No offense to short games or short game lovers.

...just the game for you

Holy freaking crap, it's a neverending install program.

...One that I've been running in the BG for about two hours.

The grass looks far too cluttered and obviously tiled. Try putting some more "blank" grass in, having some of those other weeds & flowers more sparse and stuff.
Something about the character is buggin' me, but I can't put my finger on it.

I think all LA was the greatest of all, closely followed by Minish Cap and ALTTP. I played four swords for gamecube and it seemed pretty fun. I'd get it if I didn't want Baten Kaitos so badly. The Twilight Princess game looks awesome so far, but I just hope it has a nice story to match.

Huzzah!

I added some texture to the face, and tried to balance out his posture. He's a manequin, so I thought he should have some decent clothes, ya know?
I didn't really know what that thing on the back of his head was, so I just w/e'd it. Lowered his eye and biggened it, and moved his mouth. Cleaned up the lines and sel-outed. Honestly, I'm not the best color chooser either, but I tried desaturating and adding blue to the shadows.. It really doesn't look too good on a white BG, so...

Yaiee! they got .jpg'd. Oh well, I'm sure you can see what I changed anyway. I hope I helped you. I'll see if I can get them un-.jpg'd in the meantime.

Actually, I do think that's better.
Hey - Um, It has a bunch of lines and dots on its face. What are they and which one's the eye?
Your lines are still way messy.
Would you mind if I did an edit to show you what I'd change?

I think Nonlinearity is one of the most monstrously wonderful things in videogames nowadays. I hate it when I feel pushed on through a game with no sense of freedom. At the start of a game, unless an area is blocked off for story reasons, you should most definately be able to explore it thoroughly. One of the worst things, I find, is when a game has insane potential, but it's madly killed due to the lack of freedom/nonlinearity.

And short games suck.
