Pixel Art / Re: MGS Vulcan Raven :update: Mantis

Niiice.
Vulcan is awesome, but I see just two things about Mantis that bug me. (Heh, Mantis...Bug...get it?)
1. His legs seem too far apart at the crotch. In all the pics of Psycho, all the good ones at least, his legs go in a virtually straight line from the hips to the floor; no bend at the knees.
2. Well, I know it's your style and all, but his ribs seem a bit too prominent...just a bit.

Anyway, it'd be cool if in the big picture with the Metal Gear in the BG there was Solid Snake hanging from some rafters above everyone or something, or strangling a soldier back in a shadowy corner somewhere.

Anyway, great as usual.

It, I don't know, it just drives me nuts thinking about content sitting on a cartridge or CD that I'll never see or experience.
Exactly.

About the FF series, the only reason I want to play FF7 is to just see what's so hyped up about it. Mainly, I just wanna know the story. The BS for FFtype RPGs sucks, except for Chrono Trigger. In that respect, I am in complete agreement with BIW. I love Realtime games, especially ones with good, nonlinear stories, or at least sidequests. My favorite games of these type are Terranigma, Beyond Oasis, and Soul Blazer...or Soul Blade...Soul- something for the SNES. When it comes to RPGs in general, the Mario RPGs beat everything else into the dust...'specially Superstar Saga.

Sweet.
It looks very Spawny. The only few things I noticed were;
1. the back of his collar is very straight; it has no curvature showing depth.
2. the lower part of the bg looks very barren and fleh. Too empty.
3. and, lastly, (his) right thumb looks broken.
Overall, very nice.

Oh, I assumed you wanted crits?

Completely agreed with lief.

Art related;
I think it would be nice if you added a tad more detail to what you already have, but not so much that it detracts from the style. Like some bones sparsely placed throughout the ground, or a cloud or two more in the sky above Mr. Red to make the sky more consistent, because right now it looks like the sky goes from crystal clear to densely dotted with clouds.
I also agree that the red guy is a bit too red. Perhaps a little downtoning the brightness...?
Lastly, perhaps it's just me, but that pixel-thin twig in the tree is...odd...

Not art related;
For a game, I picture this being like Lenny Loosejocks in Space, but without infinite lives or health, and controlled with the keyboard. There'd also be some battles akin to Megaman, Mario, or Sonic, but only maybe one to four. Just a short game. The animations would be fluid and pretty, with many small details such as the stars sparkling in the sky, those little creepy shadow guys popping up/hiding and blinking, and the water havin' a nice anim to it. Mostly, it'd be based on simple puzzles, item collectage, and reflexes. Controls would be walk/run, jump/climb, pick up/use/push, and shoot. The shot would be just a short ranged stun gun, used more strategically than run 'n gunnerly.
Maybe the innocent looking critters could be pixels, and as you go along, you gain appendages and stuff - going from a simple square to an armed, bipedal redman. Your task could be to lead the blue innocents to a safer land while keeping as many as possible. They'd have six simple commands; Stay all, Follow all, Attack all (select target), Attack single (Ditto), Follow single (The nearest will come while all others stay put), and Stay single (yup). But, of course, there would be places that only you could go and then open a passage for them to come to you through or make a bridge or something similar.

Man, I wish you could program.

Beautiful, as always. Just muckin' around you say? looks pretty purposefully made to me.
I honestly don't see what everyone hates about MS. It's the only program available to me and it works fine. But I don't mean to get off topic, so I'll just say:

F.A. (Freakin' Awesome)

The first eight look like they might fit into a warioware type game. of them, the 2nd and 6th are my favorite.

The last, big one, though is a masterpiece; beautiful in it's simplicity. Is that a cross in the sky? I 'specially like the star cluster in the corner. This would make for an awesome short platform-adventure game.

Nice with 'em all.

I really liked the old quiz. Before I joined I had no idea what anything was. I was just I kid who liked sprites. Unfortunately, I think the quiz was decommissioned soon after my joinage, so I never really noticed whether or not it actually made a difference. But the 100 char limit...now that worked. Of course, sometimes along would come a newb or spammer or even someone who didn't speak much english who would just fill the space with ' 's or '_'s, but for the most part, it deterred those people, not to mention the mods excellent job of keeping things under control. Of course, the 100 chars did get annoying sometimes when I just had to praise a work...

Anyway, I really liked the old pixelation as it was just before the Great Fall, although I always wished for a personal user gallery akin to Pixeljoint or Pixelerate.

That's about it.

The face is great, but some other things need to be worked on.
I'll go from top to bottom;
-The hat seems to be sitting to high on his head, and the white band could be a bit thicker.
-The face is very detailed, contrasting the rest of the image. Not a bad thing, but I think it'd be better if everything were of a consistent style.
-The tie is too short.
-The body looks like a silhouette(sp?) You could add some detail to it, or at least shade it so we can see the arms.
-He needs a belt.
-His hand (his left) is extremely blank and is oddly shaped.
-The spikes on the morningstar are a bit unevenly lengthed and don't have a consistent thickness.
-He has wierd feet. They look like they got run over by a steamroller.

It's good so far, but It doesn't look 'done.'
Hmm...I like this - do you mind if I do an edit?
