Pixel Art / Re: New to pixel art, start of a tileset

Hey its looking pretty cool so far. Although it looks a bit similar to a tileset i've seen before. Try breaking out of the mold and you might be supried at what you can accomplish.
Thanks Glide, this is Jace if you didn't know. I will post some more on the next update.

Sorry about the links, didn't even notice them. As for the blades, I could never make decent looking blades of grass, I will try it though.
Thanks cryssy.

Pixel Art / New to pixel art, start of a tileset

Well, I am very new to pixel art but I have looked at the forum for awhile. Today I thought I should probably start something so I begain a tileset. It is not that great but it is getting somewhere.
I've done small edits on sprites and stuff, but I am not good at picking colors.

Here's a little mock-up:

Here are some of the tiles:

I used very basic patterns and the colors aren't that geat. I tried other designs on the grass but I just couldn't get it to look that good. Any advice is greatly appriciated, anything will help my start at pixeling.

Yeah, the canopy does need to be much wider. As for the shape, I think it should be good. It seems to me like to much of the trunk is showing and the leaves should be lower but maybe not. Seeing so much of the trunki makes the tree look really tall.

it looks like he has no feet, making make them bigger so u can see them better

I think that is the point. And Kcilc, that animation looks great. Zoso, I think the trees color is to similar to the grass color so the trees end up meshing with the grass.

The grass looks an awful lot like the top of a christmas tree (multiple). It needs to be flattened out. I personally think more of a circular pattern makes it look more flattened. Also with the path, it looks more like a cliffside...

I really like these tiles, but they look really flat. I think it might just be bacause just a small area is shown. Same with the tree. The tee seems to be at the wrong angle right now, but we will see once it is further along. I'm interested to see an update.
