Pixel Art / Re: KoS fighter...Again?

The clothing looks very nice, I think you maybe need a darker skin colour to use on the more prominent lines. I would also say that his arms seem far less dynamic and interesting than in your original sketch. I think his feet may also be just a little too geometric, but otherwise very nice work.

Pixel Art / Ode to Radiohead

Well I very randomly decided to do a piece following the style of the various Radiohead covers featuring these warped drawings. I felt white on black was most appropriate. It also features some very bad antialiasing, but oh well.

Pixel Art / Re: Some tree's and grass i made

I made an edit of your basic green tree. I didn't change the lineart, as that part of it seemed ok, but I used the different green shades to better define the form of the tree. I also replaced the green highlight you were using with the highlight from the yellowy-green tree, as it was brighter and more noticeable. Some of the shading's still not fantastic but I think you could learn a bit from it. In your original version I thought the shading was a bit too randomly distributed. Also, using darker shades to make the lighter side of the tree seem more rounded wasn't really necessary in my opinion.

General Discussion / Re: The Official Pixelopolis OT-Creativity Thread

That is too awesome Monsoon, makes me want to get out my old lego collection. Here's a desktop I made for myself featuring my namesake character, Shifty McSly.
I've linked to it because it's ~450 kb, so I doubt you guys want it loading on the page.

Pixel Art / Re: Derivitave, generic RPG sprite madness!

Pretty sweet. My only crit is, as has already been mentioned, the heads of the bottom 2 are too low, their shoulders are actually covering their ears! Very, very nice other than that.

Pixel Art / Re: captain Hammer - Run anim/mockup

I personally think for the running animation, he should hold the hammer almost parallel(spelling?) with his shoulders, and really make it look like he has a hard time hauling it around. I think this concept would work really well when it comes time to make the swinging animation, like he has to put all his strength into it. That's just my thoughts anyway, the animation atm isn't bad, just a little effortless to my eye. Also, on the frame where the hammer head is half covered by his body, the handle looks a little bit mangled.

Pixel Art / Re: atempt at a platform character
« on: August 09, 2006, 06:31:24 am »
In addition to what tremulant said, I would say that the jumping animation just looks plain wierd. Generally people would push themselves off the ground with only one leg when jumping forward, and for a platform game I assume this would be the case most of the time. If he is jumping straight up, he needs to bend down a lot before the jump, bring his arms back and then possibly reach upwards with them. For the animation where he looks upwards slightly, his arms move, which I dont think is necessary. My only other crit would be that his head might be a bit too far forwards, but maybe that's just me. Other than that, very nice work.

Agreed, the wall needs to be a bit less detailed and contrasted, perhaps try a more basic grey/brown/orange combination. The sprite looks really awesome, but I noticed you just flipped it for left and right directions, when from the front on her hair is off to one side more. The palette looks damn sexy on that character.

Yeah, you guys are probably right about the selout. I was hoping it'd work but I suppose it's fairly unworkable with only 4 colours. At least for the sprite. Maybe it's just me but I prefer my version of the portrait to your edit helm. Anyway, all valid crits from you guys, I'm sure it'd be much better to look at on a gb screen without selout.
