"Kiddy" isn't a choice of colors, unless you mean primitive. Sure it uses lots of solid colors and simple designs, but any color can work and the best way to find good colors is trial and error.

Chigsam, your colors are flat, uninteresting and lack and form of shading or shape. Your perspective has two legs visible typical of a 45 degree view and a head that's typical of a 90 degree view, and he has no neck so that cannot even physically work.

As far as the ice shot, I like it, simple and gets the point across.
Your gun needs less pillow shading on the butt, ditch the black inside lines [go for a more gray, or a dark blue on your ice tanks], and maybe bulk up the butt of the gun, it's too small for a rifle length like that. The recoil would knock you flat.

I love it, it's crazy cool! Although, I just have to wonder two things. How did the knife get drawn and two, how does he not seriously wound himself doing that? Even a fantasy image, still, it's awesome in my eyes.

Is my chibi character alright now? Have I ironed out all the bugs in it? The demon thing was just a little fun to try something new, as I'm still more worried about getting the guy looking right.
