Would it be possible to make this as a firefox addon?

It'd be awesome to have this available here, but would be even better if you could use this on any website.

Pixel Art / Re: Bad Isometric Grass Tile Work in Progress

to be honest, it's hard to crit this all by itself. It'd be nice if you could show us how it looks tiled.

Also, it's not always a good idea to create a floor tiles like grass without some foreground objects like trees, houses, NPCs, etc. This is because the floor tiles are going to have a low visual priority, which means they'll have lower contrast and lower detail relative to the foreground objects. By only focusing on a floor tile, you're probably going to end up making it too contrasting and detailed and have to edit it later.

Never a bad idea to make lists of what you want to accomplish/need to do. Could be you're just unsure of what to do next or maybe overwhelmed by what to do next.

I kind of have the same problem, but I've gotten into the habit of documenting my ideas so that if I do get bored, I can switch focus for a bit and come back to a project later.

looking forward to it. For the last day I've been doodling a DF sidescroller(nothing serious, just for fun), but could easily switch over to what I assume would be an isometric viewpoint.

not sure. But it's been a year since releases, so hopefully a good number of hte bugs that crop up in later game have been fixed. I'm more than happy with a smoother experience of an already great game.

I think the floor side of these tiles comes across as a bit too busy. Especially considering how much junk ends up on the floor in a playthrough of DF. I think you'd be better off with a simpler, 2-3 colour floor tile

General Discussion / Re: Question about dithering

The eye is very good at spotting patterns in things, but is also prone to misinterpreting patterns and can often be swayed by optical illusions.

So nah, I don't think the eye is good enough to be able to imagine the whole dither spectrum across a piece.

When 50% dither patterns touch, though, it can be important to think in a system of 'dark color grid' and 'bright color grid'

if I remember it right, in the old 'LET'S COME UP WITH TECHNIQUES AND NAMES FOR THEM' days they called this "interlaced dithering" and Peppermint Pig was hot at it O:

Does anyone have any art from him saved anywhere? Can't find anything ):

Whatever happened to Pep? Did he tire of the pixels? Or did he just have enough of moderating?

I like the rotation idea. I thnk it's pretty neat how holding hte screen horizontally goes into peaceful mode, just like how horizontal rhythm lines  are supposed to be peaceful and calming. Then you flip the screen vertically for violence, again relating to vertical rhythm lines.

I hope they ditch the boss health meter. Kinda kills the moment for me. The boss's shield pounding/taunt just doesn't work for me, when I can clearly see how vulnerable it is because of the healthbar.

It's very pretty and hopefully will be appealing to the XBLA market. I think it's a smart move to go with the painterly graphics instead of the pixel art. It'll be much more appealing to the average user, and hopefully give the impression of the current Spelunky being an older, obsolete version. It would be disastrous if potential buyers realized there was a perfectly good free version floating around.

Best of luck to Derek and his crack team of ninja coders.
