General Discussion / Re: story time with indigo :: "The Zoo"
« on: September 03, 2005, 03:52:13 am »
Cool pictures, funny story.  I haven't been to a zoo in a long time.  I can also empathize with moving away from your girlfriend; I recently moved 800 miles away from my girlfriend to go to college.  It's not so much fun.

Oh, and the guy in the last picture is of course Rand Miller, CEO of Cyan Worlds.  Although, a different (but also somewhat correct) answer could be that he is Atrus.  I'm a big fan of the Myst series, although it's been a while since I've played any of the games.  The new one looks like it will be awesome, but that is kind of to be expected.

And now to post something completely off topic...

Does anybody else write palindromic poetry?  Or even know what it is?  Anyway, here's one I wrote a couple of days ago.  Any thoughts/comments/critiques?

The only thing we have to fear
Is fear itself.

We have a Texan President
who says the terrorists are “out there”,
who will protect us
from the terrorists.

A message is sent,
warning
the terrorists:
a bomb is
headed your way.

A bomb is
the terrorists’
warning.
A message is sent
from the terrorists.
Who will protect us?

Who says the terrorists are “out there”?
We have a Texan president.
Is fear itself
the only thing we have to fear?

In case you didn't notice, the reason this is called "palindromic" poetry is that the lines read the same forward and backward.  So yeah.

I'll second you, Panda!  You'd make a great in-charge type person.

I'd love to help out, but I don't think I'll run in this particular election, since I'm about to start my freshman year of college.  Keep me in mind for the next round, though: I have every intent to run once I get settled in to my schedule at school.  However, despite my business, I will take lief's stance that I am always here to help, whether or not I have an official position.

Good luck to all those running this time, and lets see some more people come out.  An election is no fun when there is no competition.  Competition brings out the best (and worst) in all those competing.  It is these best and worst attributes that we want to see before voting.

If I'm not mistaken, the lyrics for the oompa-loompa's songs this time around were actually taken directly from the book.  But I could be wrong...

What did they do with the edible sets after they finished filming?  Did they eat them or what?

Hey, NG.  I'm doing fine.  Haven't pixeled much (or, indeed, any) since pixelation went down, but I hope to pick it back up now that my art has a home.  I'll be sure to do some c+c-ing as well; I seemed to be better at that than at actually making my own art.  Sorry for the random tangential ramble.  Yeah.  I'm doing fine.  I need to head over and get some critiques posted sometime.

Hi, Nem!  Good to have you back.

On a side note, how do you like RPI?  As the only person with whom I am even remotely acquainted (other than my future roomate) who goes there, I was wondering if you had any advice for an incoming freshman.  I'm excited about coming up there and would appreciate hearing your opinion on the school.  Thanks in advance.

In that screenshot, there are a total of 1337 posts.  He maybe should have drawn a circle or something to draw attention, but whatever.

Dunno if anyone remembers me, but I'm here, too.  I just found the forum today, and was ...excited is not a strong enough word.  Elated, perhaps?  Anyway, it's good to have at least a temporary pixelation back.  I'll try to be active, but don't know how much I'll be able to post with school starting in a couple of weeks...
