Heehee XD I should make his other walkcycles though.

I'll try the brownish shadow, Arachne. But I think I prefer the grey so they'd work on other floor tiles without having to change it. We shall see!

Puzzle maze games are more my thing, so in the vein of "Press 5", here's my mockup.

You have to navigate the little treasure-loving-ninja-gnome through the maze, while he just walks and auto-turns right when he hits a wall, you push five to spin the floor 90 degrees clockwise to navigate him elsewhere. Collect treasure for points and have to find a set amount of keys to get out and on to the next level. Avoid traps and enemies but there are some squares on the ground that auto-dictate what happens--like those arrows, when your sprite hits it, he automatically goes the way its pointing (but so do the enemies so if they hit a square that activates a bomb you better navigate outta there before it counts down to zero). Later there will be actual blocks that can do things to the level (like slide across the floor tiles to hit things/set off traps/etc). I'm thinking boss stages too where you get bonus points depending on how quick you deal with it and super treasure. (And since you can't attack, you need to navigate the little guy over squares that'll help you out in those cases).

I'm thinking it's what happens when you mutate ChuChu Rocket with Druaga. I've also got an idea for multiplayer (up to 4 players) that deals with sabotage and treasure collecting.

Pixel Art / Here come the fuzz
« on: August 16, 2007, 05:02:17 pm »
Haven't posted much in a while so...

Lucasarts-y Hot Fuzz: a point and click and shoot adventure.

Though if I did make a Hot Fuzz game, it would probably be more like Streets of Rage 2, complete with getting the Andys to back you up or call you a "twat/wanker" whichever comes first...

Thought I'd take a crack at it. Never was very good with machines... So here you are, the DoDonHoverTank.

You don't really need a new program, you can do it in photoshop when you index your graphic. Click on CUSTOM and then pick your colours from your graphic in the order you want it. I know it seems tedious, but I personally like it more than having the program order for me (unless there's more than 16 colours). It also helps if you put little boxes of your colours in the corner of your graphic to pick them easily, then just remove them later.

There's also promotion if you have access to it.

I find it interesting to see what they're trying to do, and well I whole-heartedly encourage such a project, but I also think the execution is falling flat... Maybe they'll look better in motion, maybe they won't (especially if they're not adding frames to smooth out the movements). Some of the still images look like how I'd mess around with the vector tools in photoshop.

I'd rather just play that gorgeous Dreamcast one...

These are really cool. Really digging the style! As for a website with the kind of clothes you're looking for, maybe this page (The Costume Site) might help. I found it while researching stuff for some RPG years ago...so I'm not sure how much of the page is still working.

General Discussion / Re: Pixelling on your DS
« on: June 18, 2007, 01:07:15 pm »
This is something else entirely but... There's an interesting DS game coming out called Drawn to Life where you pixel in your character and it slaps it onto a 3D cubethingy, turning it into a playable hero for an RPG.

I was just playing on the flash demo. Made Batman and some limbless creature too. I'm not sure how intricate and accurate the actual application will be... we shall see. For one, I hope there's a tool that lets you move around the screen when you're zoomed in all the way (or I'm just missing it). It's still neat that someone finally did this.
