Pixel Art / Re: [Feedback] First Grass
« on: January 10, 2017, 11:55:58 am »
As FelipeFS said, we'd need to see the other assets with the grass to give you proper feedback, but I think it's a very good start anyway.

I say "start" because now comes the most annoying part; getting rid of the grid. You can do this by adding more tiles or by editing your current tile:

I'd work a lot more on this to fix every possible "line" in the grid, but I think you get my point.  :) Slightly changed the colo(u)rs to have less contrast, just personal preference!

Pixel Art / Re: Too bright colors?

Tried an edit that goes in the other direction, adding more saturation. Probably too much, but I feel like this loses a lot of charm when you lower the saturation like you did... 'Dunno, might just be me.

I guess it still hurts the eyes a lot... Maybe softer colors on the ground would work better then. Something like that, maybe? Some colors still feel a bit agressive, but I kinda like it this way, too.

Pixel Art / Re: First time making a big animation
« on: November 03, 2016, 06:22:30 pm »
Now I'm making my first moving sprite. It's very rough.
Let me show you rough. :D

I assumed she's running, it's pretty hard to tell in your animation right now. A few things I'd recommend (keep in mind I'm not a great animator at all ):
- Check animation tutorials on the internet. I think this one is pretty popular, maybe there are better ones around but it helped me a lot: http://www.angryanimator.com/word/2010/11/26/tutorial-2-walk-cycle/. You have some problems in your animation that can easily be fixed after you've read this, I think.
- Don't overdetail your sprite until you're satisfied enough with your animation, it's a huge time waste to put details in right now in my opinion, just focus on the movement.

Pixel Art / Re: Please help improve an animated Fish

I feel like you could change the frame right before the fish jumps:
Very very ugly edit, but hopefully good enough to explain what I mean.

Tried an edit, might help:

Well, she looks angry in the front view, but playing with the shadows would fix this, I guess.
Good luck! o/

Pixel Art / Re: Tiles - The Grid
« on: January 22, 2011, 02:27:48 pm »
Okay, not sure if that helps but I tried to show some examples here. They're not the best ones obviously, but here you go:

First, I tried to make 3 kind of grass (well, 2+reverse, went lazy here) using your colors. Each one is used to clearly show the grass' direction. I didn't put much effort into this, but I think the grid is pretty well hidden.

Then I just took different tiles from Seiken Densetsu 3, next to another grass tile I did. The grass is going in all direction at the same time, and it becomes a lot harder to hide the grid. I'm kinda happy with what I did, but the grid can still be seen here.

I'm not really sure if this helps in any way, but I pretty much understand how to do grass now thanks to examples I could analyze. Just keep trying!

Pixel Art / [WIP] OH SHI-!
« on: January 17, 2011, 05:54:00 pm »
Hey!
I'm working on something for this week's challenge on pixeljoint:
Quote
A year ago we did hands, now it's time to draw feet. As per the hands challenge, the foot/feet need to be the main focus of the piece. Also, only human feet and no socks/shoes/other footwear - just a bare foot (or feet). Have fun and don't forget creativity.

Canvas Size - Max 170 x 170.
Colours - Max 16.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - No.
I think the feet is okay, but I'm not sure about the poop.
I'm not really used to work on this kind of things (I've pretty much only done RPG stuff so far), so I'd like some critics/advices please! :p

Update:

Hey, I like this. :o
Here's an edit; I just thought you might want to get rid of those black outlines and get some AA (too much ? :x). Minor changes on colors too:

Your version -> My edit

In my opinion the black outlines give this a really not finished feeling. Might just be me though.

Thanks, your edit helped a lot!

Your edit on the char is great too, I can't really see anything wrong with it. Now, I'm using the same blue for the character and the tree, but I'm not sure if that's a good choice...

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help! :D

EDIT : Okay, started working on some ground parts and walking animation for the character. Still lot of work needed.

Thanks, you're actually very right and I tried to make changes!

Added some details on the trunk (not sure if that's enough/too much though), added a color to have some stronger highlights on the leaves, and changed the leaves part, so that it looks a little more natural (?).
