Looking amazing so far 
I'm working on one now. Just purgatory is a rather difficult thing, but it's quite ingenious as many people have different ideas to what it could actually be.. rather than white nothingness..

Well, from experience, I know finding a decent Venom ref. Picture is rather hard.. 
As for background.. I always imagined a Marvel rise of the imperfects stlye one..

Altough, I would say it's a very fast paced walk.. I think the size of the character makes up for that. Superb work.

Nah - That eye edit doesn't seem right. See-
The tounge, looks better, aswell as anatomy.
As for the original image Trem, I love it - Looks great so far... I would yes, suggest sort of a roof top like background, and yes, keep it simple. Truely fantastic work.
