His left foot and knee looks like it's bending away from the viewer: that's impossible when compared to the direction of all the other body parts.

I would like to see the shading on the blue portion of the costume to be darkened and shifted more towards a purple. I would also like to see some more purple worked into the red shade.

The hand pointed towards the viewer needs to be defined a little more: try moving the shading under the hand and sharpening it, and separating the thumb from the rest of the hand with a little bit of shading around it.

I like it so far :)

Make sure to keep the stance erect. His shoulders and backbone droop back right now and throw off his center of gravity.

I love these!

The only advice that I can give right now is to work on the highlights on the kneecaps -- their square shape is very apparent and kinda detracts from the organic feel that you've created. (Also that purple square on the bearded guy's shoe)

Also, AA-ing those outlines will do wonders.

I like the contrast of your most recent image (the one with the background), but I dont understand why there's ground tiles next to the puzzle in a different angle  ???

I like the idea of cutting the mouth out, both because it helps it more identifiable as an island and because you can show the sadness through the eyes alone.

Cure: I love your edit, but I think that the lazy eye is a bit much. The texture and sense of location that you've presented is plenty for identifying that it's an island.

I personally think the lightsource is fine - a little forward and from above. t's just needs to be define a little better, and some of the highlights need to be made smaller.

What I think this ship needs is a nice dark shade tucked in to those corners to really make those shapes pop.

Also, watch out for banding, which is happening on those two curved strips of grey that are closest to the center.

Good start, but the legs are killing me! Maybe try raising the curve of the body, and then using that extra room gained to create longer, more convincing legs.

Also, look at these legs:

Maybe the leaning-back legs would work out better?

I worked on all coloring except the legs. I didn't really edit the outline or the palette.

Your sprite has too much noise because of all the dithering used: you cant rely so strongly on dithering. Make sure not to use your outline's color when dithering unless you have a darn good reason -- when the outline is used, it defeats the purpose of the contour being there in the first place and confuses the viewer.
