Rydin. I think you lost me while you were talking about the noobie thing. I'm probably just not on the ball today.

I have to agree, though, that the new "permanent" Pixelation probably won't be permanent. I think Pixelation should sell tee shirts or something, though. God knows you would be able to sell them. You could use the money to persue legal discourse when the next s00pCan comes along.

It's really simple, actually. Just color in this silhouette. You must use ALL of the black, and, if necessary, you can have stuff protrude into the white a little.

At the top of my head, I can already think of 8 things that this could be.

I believe that the one on the left works better as a base. The one on the right makes him look like he's got a beer-belly.

Just one problem with that base that I found. You might want to remove the line that separates his body and his backfin. It causes the backfin to look more like a side-fin.

Edit: I made an example of how I might handle it.

That works much better. The prince matches his environment wery well. Also, the new bricks tesselate much better than either of the old ones do. Nice choice of colors, also.

And about the key, I think it gets enough contrast from its lumination to set it apart from the background. If you don't think so, you could make it a different color. I don't think it needs that though.

Here's a particularly cool-looking seahorse I found while doing a quick search.

Blue and green. I know you're not going to use the picture for anatomical purposes, since this is obviously a more stylistic picture, but you could use the picture to help you figure out how to position your shades. A coloring guide.

In case it matters, a real starfish turning its tail like that would be the equivalent of me twisting my torso around 720 degrees.  :-\

The whole essay is one big paragraph! o_O

Try giving each example its own paragraph. That way, your essay will be easy to navigate and will comply with the rules of English grammar.

moving text :)

That looks much better.  :)

Again, you might want to add a little blue to the dark green.

The new sprite is much improved.

I think the best way to make the character match the environment is to keep the simplistic environment, and increase the contrast and saturation. The other way would be to ditch the character, but I'm sure you don't want to do that. It's a very nice sprite.

Edit: you might want to consider removing the black inside outlines.

Nah. That's just me being silly as usual :)

By the perspective thing, I mean that because the "camera" is above the person, the person's lower extremities ought to be smaller. This is also called foreshortening.

look at this image. Notice how the feet are smaller than the hands. This is a product of foreshortening. Because the feet are farther away from the camera than the hands, they appear smaller on the screen.

As for the shading, That isn't so hard to fix. Give your darker shade a blue tint first of all. As things receive less light, they become more blue. Then, try using an even darker color for the underside of the left and right legs. That will help bring you closer to a 3-d effect. :D

Eh? The additional options when posting will only deactivate smilies for a single post, not everyones. I like that better since it allows the poster to use picture or text smilies at their own discretion.

Well, I guess that's okay. This board's smilies aren't too bad anyway. Most smilies just annoy me,though. The ones on DA in particular. ~_~
