Hello and welcome to Pixelation.

Please make sure you read the RULES. Reading the FAQ can not hurt either.

Have fun.

Challenges & Activities / Hixel it!
« on: May 08, 2008, 09:48:52 pm »
I had the idea for this in late 2005, but was too crap back then to do something nice enough.
Attempted again yesterday and this came out.

The idea is to use "hexagonal pixels"

Here be the template:

Use this and a maximum of 16 colours (as the res is quite low actually it should be more than enough)

Archived Activities / Isometric Collaboration IV - DONE!
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:47:47 pm »
Miascugh made this some time ago (template and banner) to cheers to him. But he has no time atm, and since this forum needs some more activity I though I will start this off now.

It is upon us! Round 4 of the Isometric Collaboration. The rules are basically the same as last time, scroll down to read them again.

The base:

As stated, red tiles are taken but also read what people wrote in their posts, as it might happen that the image is not 100% up to date.

For those of you who don't know the rules, they are as follows:

  • 1. Each person may make one tile, or set of connected, similarly-colored tiles at a time.  For example, you could reserve a single tile, like 75, or you could reserve a block of tiles like {15-37-38} or {85-80-73-79-104}.  Keep in mind that blocks of tiles must be touching along a side and of the same color.  Also, if you do not want to do the entirety of a large block, but want to put tiles in that area, that's fine too.  The block rule is completely optional.
  • 2. Ideally, new tiles should connect to pre-existing tiles, but this rule can be stretched if deemed appropriate.
  • 3. The black borders are first come first served. If you are have started working post it in the thread. So people with tiles next to that would have to wait until who said they are working on theirs first is done (unless there are massive time delays, then I will say what to do).
  • 4. Please announce what tiles you are planning to do.  I will attempt to keep this post updated with the newest version, and mark spaces that are currently in progress.
  • 5. This is the palette to use. So we will have 16 colours plus transparency.
  • 6. Don't be afraid to break the iso grid.  The last one broke the grid very nicely.
  • 7. at the borders of the template (where it's grey) it is possible to draw into that space (within reason).
  • 8. Be creative, and overall, have fun!

Ready, set, go!

Slightly altered to fit the new base.

Note: What's different this time, though, is that only 5 faces at a time may be reserved at most (since there are some rather extensive patch-connections).
I also inlcuded a cleaner small version so it is easier to make out the structure at a quick glance.

Some of you guys have used colours which are not from Arne's palette. I edited the image so that there are only 3 additional colours it now.
Those 3 colours are the grey background, and the horrid magenta and green. These colours are not supposed to be used in the image and should be gone at the end (apart from the grey, which you should not use either tho)
So if you used any colour which is not in Arne's palette (including the grey background one) it will now flash green/magenta and I urge you to edit it and post the edited tile(s). Thanks.

Pixel Art / READ THIS BEFORE POSTING HERE!
« on: December 14, 2007, 07:43:46 pm »
Before posting any Pixelart go read the RULES and FAQ as well.

You should have read it anyway, as the Rules forum is clearly visible.
But we get people here who obviously don't read the rules and then wonder why they get banned when they are in violation with one of the rules.

One more thing to keep in mind: Pixelation comes with a zoom feature on all images inserted using the [img] tag. Click to zoom, shift/ctrl click to reduce zoom level by one, alt click to reset zoom. Please make use of it, and save your images at 100% zoom if it's not absolutely intended to be viewed at a higher zoom level.

So, read the rules, be nice and friendly and enjoy your stay.
