Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: Xochiquetzal (NUDITY)

Very very quick paint-over of the chest area:

What you have at the moment, is very peculiar looking.

Also the face could be a bit more fem, at the moment looks like the scary man from Blade Runner. Though the hair will help this a lot, so maybe leave tweaking the face till later.

Are you intentionally going for the three fingers thing?  It looks quite strange on a more 'realistic' piece.

Keep up the good work!  Look forward to seeing this piece get fleshed out, so to speak  : )

Really love this so far!  The main character's pretty perfect.  The alien has some readability issues. His (I think) backpack's green so looks like his arm, which confuses things a fair bit. If the 'backpack' actually is his arm, it's too far back and a pretty weird pose. I'd maybe add a specular on his shoulder and a pixel or two of the darker shade just to add a little more contrast in that area to show what's in front better.

Background's good, but a bit bland. Needs an accent colour I think (pipes or something going on top maybe?)  Also, and just a matter of personal opinion, but seeing a few pixels of the z-plane would give it a little depth.  Or a little bit of shadow at the top of the far bg.  Or both!

Good luck with this!

Much better on both!  Don't suppose you have a mock of the tiles in situ?

Am i the only one who thinks e-readers aren't that amazing technology wise?  I thought we were well ahead of B&W screens.  Everyone thinks they're the shiznit though.  odd.

Haha, yes you are!  They're incredibly easy on the eyes, because each "pixel" is phyisically flipped over (I think).  So it only ever uses power when it's changing page so they last ages between charges.  Have you seen on in real life?  They look like paper!  I wasn't impressed till I saw one.  I never really read, to my shame, but I'd probably get one if I did.

Monochrome
Then why not do both?  Publish on flash platform to catch up publicity and collect some stray bucks, while also create a stand alone free distributive with a possibility of expansions and put it on a separate website.
The main problem in being recognized is to reach your audience. If not by extrimely popular ArmorGames then how else?

This bothers me now, because I also have a platfomer mockup in my sleave and an idea to release it somehow with profit.

This is getting pretty OT but Flash is easily THE most convenient route to reaching the widest audience and there are fair few well documented ways to monetise the platform. Wasn't Playfish recently sold for $400m or something crazy?

Remember that I'm trying to match the style. The guy that I'm using as a reference (The dude with the top hat) also has long arms that would reach the floor

Only his coat holding arm would. It's exagerated to show that actioin clearly. Also the ref is more 'thick' everywhere, making the proportions seem squashed rather than just odd.

I really really love your clean and confident style, and the game (even just from these two mocks) looks like a whimsical place I'd like to explore.

Main character seems a tiny bit bland.  His run anim is very wobbly too.  I don't think the individual frames need much more than tweaking, it's mainly the frames need moving about I think. I'd also make the two forwards extremes of his arm positions less extreme - he should be slowing down to bring his arms back again, so moving less - little bit jerky atm.  (Behind is fine).

*editted to improve some terrible English!*

2D & 3D / Re: Bitten by the sidescroller bug...

Okay...added the guns and a prelim firing animation...

Thoughts?

I love this style. The muzzle flash seems to go backwards though, and emits no lighting atm.  The animation of the recoil seems a little odd too though it's harder to explain why.

Ok. I fixed the basic proportions of the top half and bottom half according to:  http://www.idrawdigital.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/prop_female.gif
Does this look better?

I do miss the longer legs though.  I suppose I could make the heels higher.   :P

As long as you understand the anatomy, I think you can distort it somewhat to get the effect you want. Capcom's sprites often have much longer legs and compressed upper bodies (see SF3). Be careful of her left leg though, it looks a little too bent.

General Discussion / Re: Your choice of background color

When digi painting I usually use a little-bit darker than 50% low-sat blueish colour, my pixeling process is a bit more random. I'm usually doing game assets, so recently I've been using an average colour from the usual background tile.
