Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Myself in pixels - one of my handful first

I think your third update looks better then the newest one. it looks like your wearing the hat way too high on your head. Also the clouds in the background, in 1X view, it looks like something is going through your head. Maybe you could adjust em a little so that it doesnt look like you could draw a line from one to the other, because they are so close together that it just looks like a squiggly going through your head.

As already mentioned, too much head bob... though it doesn't look like he's taking a deep breath because there is no chest movement, the entire torso simply moves up and down by a pixel or two. maybe some expansion in the chest would make it more readable. Right now he looks like Quagmire doing his little head thing...

I have a question! =D . So I am an Anime freak (I hope no one hates me for that =( ....)   Well, I was wondering about two things. One of them is actually related to Anime lol.

First Question: I usually use paint ^_^ but after a disaster/MAJOR TRAGEDY, I have been questioning.  I made this cute little pixel doll
THE BASE (the face) is NOT mine, it belongs to KawaiiHannah.com (I tried so hard on the shading,  PLEASE tell me what you think! <3  criticiism is welcomed too! PLZ)  I saved it as a PNG. but it still blurred when I opened it in GIMP to animate it. Thus, I never animated it  :-\ Should I use Paint? because I also downloaded something called Graphics Gale, but it seemed so MAJORLY confusing to me, too many tools ! :yell:. What should I do (by the way im too poor/cheap to get photoshop or anything that costs money atm ^_^ )

Second Question: I LOVE drawing Anime, I was wondering, is it a good idea to transfer scanned anime drawings and color them in with pixel shading? How is it done? Is it better to get really good at drawing Anime THEN going  on to Pixel art or vice versa?  TY for your response in advance! People are awesome artists here I cant believe it!

<3

Pixel The Doll

There are actually several tools you could use for pixel art. If you are going to be scanning in drawing then you could use Graphics Gale's layer tool to best effect, or even download Gimp... As for graphics gale, it only takes a bit of reading the manuals or even just experimenting with each tool to see what it does.

As for the art itself, JPEG IS EVIL!!!! Also, the art itself does not look like pixel art. To know for sure I would need to see the art in GIF or PNG form :P

Also, as for using other people's bases... Some people here may see it as cheating. A base is taking the easy way out. If you're not good at drawing faces PRACTICE. Don't take the easy road... I am no expert, and neither will you be if you just edit other people's art. Don't think I'm being nasty, as I just want to help and I am by no means trying to be rude.

But really, keep up the practice and improve yourself :)

I'm in!

Things I like.... things I like.... hrmmmm.... Well.... I like being.... decisive? Not workin out too well at the moment though :P

Seriously though, I LOVE art in all forms, comics, cartoons, fine art, not so fine art, pixel art, fantasy art, realism, surrealism, subrealism, yellowsubmarealism, cg, 3d, teepee, squeegee, hebeegeebees, etc. Anything that has to do with art, so obviously, I'll love whatever anyone makese for me. Seeing art and wondering how it was created, how exactly someone makes something fantastic or horrible, or horribly fantastic is a hobby that I am completely and utterly obsessed with. So.... to make it a little more readable... I want a present made with pixels, made by you.... my secret Santa... free reign is a wonderful gift! :D

By the way, you guys (Pixelation) ROCK :)

*hijack* Thanks for that wonderful link... I love it :D *hijack*

Hrm... reads a bit flat, which has already been mentioned, but also the shape seems to be off by a bit. And the wing doesn't really match the rubber ducky :(

EDIT*

Giant rubber ducky attacks!

Here's a ref for shape and just sheer awesomeness

Alrighty then, first off, small update to the life orb holder, and an all new sprite, the lamp of DOOM!!! not really doom I guess but makes it a little more interesting.

Life orby holder mabob

C&C on it, edits, whatever, I'll take em all. Sorry for the slow updates, methinks I took to many college courses >.<

Thanks in advance guys (BTW that ugly brown is going to be transparent in the game, so its not gonna be so fugly.

EDIT

Did some color changes, made the grass a bit more blue and made the actual lamp darker to make the vines more noticeable, may end up making the actual vines darker or simply widen up the lamp itself to add more detail to the vines. Still need more C+C

Need help with making the wrapping vine around the lamp a little more noticeable and uh... viney :P. Also, color choices are subject to change as the wind blows. Grass is probably going to be changed to something a lil more bluish to match the game ambiance.

The wings are awesome, but at first I thought they were fire... Then after studying it a bit I realized that they were, in fact, wings :P It is also quite difficult to tell the two apart, maybe you could do some shading on the back one (not to horribly much, cause I love that color :D) so that we can tell em apart. Overall me likey :D

Ok... I know you probably get this alot, but I... hate you! :P just kidding, but seriously those edits look amazing, so much so that I had to redo mine to match the second one a lil better. Definitely a better design and idea, and THANKS for the glowy bits. Think I am getting the hang of it. By no means a finished product, but may end up in the game anyways, as I still have quite a few sprites to make :P Thanks again MLC

(By the way, love your avatar, came out great)
