Pixel Art / Logo
« on: May 06, 2010, 06:27:23 pm »

I am trying to learn how to pixel because I love pixelated art, and it reminds me of the games I used
to play when I was a kid. I've been lurking around here for a while, but I haven't been making a lot of stuff
on my own (it always ends up looking horrible, and I give up). However, I recently made a logo for my webpage
using Inkscape (it's not pixel art), and now I have decided to pixel on top of it. I like its shape very much, but
the bad anti-aliasing is terrible, and it isn't very focused. Here's what I have:

I'm wondering if any of you have some good references/examples to draw inspiration from, and whether you have
some tips for this sort of task. Is it a bad idea to pixel on top of an image?

Thanks in advance!

Great! I will give that second one a try.

I am currently using Grafx2... but eventually I'll have to animate stuff if I want to make games...
so I'm wondering if there's anything simple and similar to Grafx2 that supports animation?

Hello. I just started pixelling, and I'm wondering if there's some place where I can use palettes from?
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to just use someone else's palette without their permission... What is the
common etiquette here? Everything I make looks ugly, since I'm a beginner, but also because I have
problems finding the right colors. With a bit of help with that, I think I can find more motivation.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Avatar, hand!

Hello again!

I need an avatar, so I started drawing a hand... eventually it's supposed to come out of the ground,
looking veiny and evil and all that.

I decided to make another one, using some of the advice from here.

I think it's much better than the first one! Thank you for that...
I am slowly beginning to see how much impact highlights have.

Thanks a lot! This is exactly what I need... and yikes, I can't believe that your pictures are the same resolution.

I will take your advice and practice a bit. Now I can't blame the low resolution any longer!

Hello everyone!

I have been reading this forum for a while, and I am amazed at all the great things
people have done here. I'm mainly a programmer, but I thought I would give this a try.

Here's how far I've come. My problem is that I don't know where to go from here,
even though I realize that it looks absolutely horrible. Tips are very welcome!
