Cool! Hmm, those look great on black, but they look rather strange on a transparent background.

I imported them at www.favicon.cc and marked the black parts as transparent (you can see a preview of it in the
tab for that page in your browser).

Hello Daikon!

Your idea is different from what I initially had in mind,  but it is certainly interesting.
I agree that it is very difficult to work with such a low resolution... I like the orange colors,
even though my website is mostly green.

I will explore this option as well. Thank you!

Pixel Art / Hydra favicon

Hello! I am trying to make a cool favicon based on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lernaean_Hydra which is a green monster with several heads.
It looks pretty boring and flat right now, and I am wondering if you have any suggestions on how to improve it?

http://hydra.org/favicon.ico

Since it is a favicon, it is 16px * 16 px.

Well, you guys often come up with great ideas that I would never have thought of, so it was worth a try.

The part I was thinking about pixelating, was for example the grey lines behind the components.
Just looking for suggestions, that's all. Maybe it's a poor base for pixelart :-)

Pixel Art / Logo to pixelart
« on: September 13, 2013, 08:46:46 am »
Hello! I have made a logo for my website using Inkscape (vector art), and then a friend used Photoshop to draw a grey outline between the letters
in the text. Now this isn't pixel art, yet. I want to pixelate this. I am bad at making shapes and forms, so I have used Inkscape for that. It makes it
easy to copy and paste and resize objects.

I know this isn't pixelart yet, but I am looking for advice on what to do to make it look more old school. For example, I want to round the corners
on the grey background lines, and I was thinking I could maybe make some texture on it too, to make it glass-like, perhaps? Ideas?

Just out of curiosity: what tools are you using for your project? What do you use for animating your sprites as you create them,
what sort of game development tools, etc? I just begun working on something similar myself... Do you use some sort of multiplier
to make it work with high resolutions?

This is incredibly cool. I would definitely go for the dark roof version, though.

Thanks a lot! That is definitely a step in the right direction.

You added a lot of depth to the outline of the pieces. I think the next step would be to give the
blue/white parts a more jagged look. Right now they are a bit flat, just like frozen water seen from above.
I would like them to be jagged, like seeing the rocky mountains from above (which is what I have been
trying and failing miserably at).

Perhaps I can make some more progress with the use of that additional, dark color you added.

I haven't come much further, but I've cleaned the letters up a bit.

Before I continue, I am looking for some feedback on the first letter... it's supposed to look icy.
It doesn't look good enough for me to want to continue doing it to all the other letters.

Any ideas on how I can make it look more shiny and icy? It looks really flat right now!
