Hey, i REALLY like ur stuff, i just think tht perhaps it's lacking shadow/contrast. None of it pops at all yet has great design overall, if it is a washed look ur looking for then it would really work but individualy i think it needs to be less pastoreal. BUT, i think the gun in awesome and am really looking forward to the finished version of the wip. :)

Well well! thanx dudes, i'm pretty blown away by the depth of the replies but i guess i shoulda expected that from the the topic. I'll be honest and say that perhaps things are a little bit too technical but i now know exactly what i can do now. sounds like making a character or object within specs can be pretty easily put into perspective but as soon as we get a scene the only way to really know is by chucking that fucker through a real psx.

side note:

recently read a ghostbusters review and it refers to the fact that the ps3 version has lower res textures, this is attributed to lower texture memory which as said above on previous systems can be gotten around. Seems like sony does this on every console and people are still bithing about it, but considering mgs and shadows of collosus, i think the extra dev time might be worth it

ps. please check my final viper post

Hey thanks  ;D

Jakten, yeah its my first low spec model. I did think of mirroring  like you said, gonna try that in the next iteration.

I need to sort the uv's out and i think i can probably keep this level of detail with mirrored uv's on top of each other at 32*32 so i'll post that if i manage it.

Squiggly_P, Thanks alot for all the blender know how! I tried not to mirror the mesh because it seemed like a waste of geometry on something so small but I'm goin try out this pinning malarky and snap to pixel. Do you know anything about the game engine?

Here is the original uv layout, it was more orgainsed but to get the look i wanted i just moved things around to get light/dark in right places and it looked good so i left it, now time to organise!

I'll post when I've sorted out the uv's, Thanks

Thanks alot for the reply's, that gpu text thing was pretty interesting buti dont think i'll be following everything in there! looks like 16 colours, 256 max but pushing it unless its a huge character taking up most of screen or something and just keep geometry as simple as. Can't actually find any polycounts on the sould reaver site though but cheers anyhoo.

Hey i just registered and was wondering if anybody knows the specs for ps1 style models. I've made a few models which I shall post soon. I've been sticking to 256x256 which I'm guessing is probably the max texture size for ps1 but i have no idea about the colour pallette/colour depth or max tri's. Could anyone help me out please? thank you . Can't find this info anywhere
