Considering that he said what he was posting was made following web tutorials, I don't think it's too far of a stretch to imagine that he drew the same character because that was the tutorial he used.  It looks like his drawing skills are already good, and he's practicing the style rather than trying to make an original piece.

I think your main focus need to be linework. The first image is messy, and especially around the muscles the lines are dividing up the shapes too sharply. You seem to have made the mistake of just drawing large scale in MS Paint, rather than focusing on the actual pixels.Maybe you should try something smaller so you can really work on getting everything polished.

The first wak cycle is a bit odd - looks like a zombie stumbling along. But the leg movement for part of it looks pretty smooth.

On te second one, the legs need to straighten out more before the feet meet the ground - unless you wanted him to be stomping? (In which case, you need a bit of a pause after each step...  :))

I think the main problem is with the pose. It doesn't look like someone sitting, it looks more like someone hanging from something, standing on one leg. The raised leg, especially, looks detatched from the body.

I tried doing a quick sketch, and here's what I came up with:

I think the neck needs to curve more. Possibly with a row of rocks to show the vertibrae? It might help direct attention towards the face.

I would save your admiration of the colours for Squirrelsquid who was the one who actually created this palette for the Omnivortrait challenge, which zanaril has failed to mention.

Sorry, I'll add that to my first post.

It was originally for that challenge, before I realized I'd misread the rules and it had to be a self portrait, not just any creature.  :P (I also wasn't going to finish it on time.)

I've been fiddling around with this for a while, and wanted to see if anyone had CC on what I've done so far.  :)

The palette (and the inspiration) is from theOmnivortrait challenge on pixeljoint.

I think it needs to look more blobby when it moves. Maybe something like this?:

Would it be possible to use that idea as a scroller, so you can scroll in six different directions and get back to where you started, or would that have to have the images stretching?
