The contest was supposed to be over like 2 weeks ago... I wonder what happened?  ???
I guess I'll post my entry if I don't hear anything about the contest in a couple of days... Did anyone else submit anything?

I wasn't so much asking as pointing it out, but, yeah, I probably should ask and find out for sure...

I have a copy of NFGMan's book, but I'm not sure what other good ones are out there... these were the books recommended by Amazon similar to the subject:

1x1: http://www.amazon.com/1-Pixel-Based-Illustration-Design/dp/0972563628/ref=pd_sim_b_1/103-7781581-6435808?ie=UTF8&qid=1179870768&sr=1-1

I LOVE GAME GRAPHICS: http://www.amazon.com/Love-Games-Graphics-Tsuyoshi-Kusano/dp/9889705435/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b/103-7781581-6435808?ie=UTF8&qid=1179870768&sr=1-1

according to the only customer review, though, "It not contais graphics!!!!! Only photos of some game console and repetitive needless things."

Designing for Small Screens: http://www.amazon.com/Designing-Small-Screens-Design-Studio/dp/2940373078/ref=pd_sim_b_3/103-7781581-6435808?ie=UTF8&qid=1179870768&sr=1-1

Not sure if those will help, but that's all I could find...

Hopefully this template I threw together will help out:

Pallette's in the upper left.  Here's the default Guide character if you need some sort of reference:

Dimensions:

armJoints:  10x18 px
arms:        22x18 px
legJoints:   18x10 px
legs:         18x22 px
head:        36x40 px
body:        36x38 px

Good Luck! :D Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

EDIT: What's the deadline on this, anyway?

Agh... this thing is kinda frustrating to navigate...

Anyone know how to pan around once you've fully zoomed in or at least zoom in somewhere other than the center of the body?

It'd be cool to get the exact dimensions of everything, work on this in a separate program, and then just transfer...

Nice find, though :D

I'm waiting for more info on this game - it looks pretty fun.

EDIT: The arrow keys allow you to move pixel-by-pixel, the spacebar allows you to paint (thanks Presley). Moving the arrows allows you to pan while zoomed in, too. Rockin'.

Maybe you should rephrase the question relating to 1-bit stuff (only colors are Black and White)?
