Pixel Art / Re: 1st attempt at getting some tone right
« on: June 03, 2006, 04:16:12 pm »
I think the lighting might be done a bit wrong at the top head area. The first way you did that area actually looked a bit better.
Sorry I dont have any lighting tutorials for you to follow but maybe indstead of making it look like he has a hand on his make, make it so that it just looks like a round shine on his head.

Its looking better of course, so keep working on it.

This scene looks quite interesting and promising.
I love the colors and the ominous feel that I get when looking at it. Definitely could be used as a poster for some kind of robot horror film  :)
The only thing that I see wrong with it are what Xion Night pointed out about the bits on the ground. With the perspective of this work, those pieces should atleast vary a little in size.

Either way, this is an awesome pixel work!

Pixel Art / First Try at Profile Sprites
« on: June 02, 2006, 03:52:00 am »
Although its a rather small profile sprite, it is still my first try at venturing away from the small world of pixel art. I tried making it have atleast some aspects of lighting in it, but of course, it did not turn out how I wanted. Also, these are the first sprites that I have made with Pro Motion and I'm just beginning to learn things about the program so bear with me. Comments and critique will be appreciated and anything else that will help me with making profile sprites would be helpful as well.

Here is the bald head sprite

And here is some hair that I added real quick.

Thanks for your help.

Pixel Art / Re: which one do you prefer?

Both of them are done quite well but for a game portrait, the first one would work much better.
The second one has an interesting style to it and is interesting but wouldn't work as well as the first one.
Then again it really depends on the style of art in your game but I would say the first one  :D

Pixel Art / Re: my panda doll

Haha these are quite unique and interesting.
I like the simpleness of the sprite, so it is easily customized and changed to be whatever you need it to be.
So many different things you can make with just one panda doll, awesome  ;D

Thanks for the help on fixing my sprite, your version looks a whole lot smoother.

Thanks again!

I was indeed going to add more frames but first I wanted to get something that ran relatively smooth so that the next frames would be used for detail. It seems that I have been going at it the wrong way so I'll be adding extra frames to it soon.
Oh and as for the idle sprite, I was trying to make it a bit more like classic games where they include the idle sprite in the animation but if needed, I will take it out and replace it with a sprite that runs much smoother.

Thanks for the help  :)

Pixel Art / Walk Animation (WIP)
« on: May 25, 2006, 05:24:05 am »
I've been working on a walk animation for a game that I'm making with a friend and I'm looking for some critique and advice on how to make it better. Of course, It's not not  even close to being done yet but I'll post it here just for some help.

I have not made the head move yet so that will probably be the first thing I fix and then there's the matter of the feet which are done quite bad. I'm not very good with animation sprites so if anyone could give some reference sprites or animations on walking it would be very appreciated. The sprite isn't shaded just yet and is not fully detailed yet since I'm working on the base for now until it looks smooth.

Thanks for the help!

Thats quite an artistic piece that you have there.
It truly captures the painting style through pixel art.
Excellent  ;D
