I've got a Wacom Bamboo Fun, and it's pretty good.  I've tried other brands (Genius, Vistablet, Lenovo, etc.) and none really stand out as better or worse.  Obviously you wouldn't by some 2003 piece of junk off of Craigslist, but you don't really have to go all out and buy a $300 Cintiq unless you're sure you'd need it.

The clouds look more like exploded marshmallows to me.  The point where the blue hits the murky green is also throwing me off, it seems a little sudden - maybe some dither or AA would help.  Otherwise, the tree looks good, and the form of the island is nice.  It could use a tad more contrast, but it's great otherwise!

The saturation seems a bit high, and you could definitely use some AA on the piece.  You could use some texture here and there as well so that it doesn't look so flat.

The shape of the couch looks fine, however there is no contrast, making it hard to distinguish the different contours, however this is still a WIP, so I don't really expect everything here to be perfect. :P

Dusty - I've got Firefox 3.6, and it still blurs it out when I zoom in (although that just might be a Windows 7 thing, since it happens in IE8 and Chrome 4, too). NVM, a simple edit to a CSS file in my AppData folder did the trick.
SirBilly - I like it, but that indent on the bookshelf is bugging me.  The grays don't really go well with the brown.  I'll try to make an edit without destroying your palette, and I'll post it once I finish.
Here's an edit -  The black may be a bit too harsh, but I didn't want to edit your palette.

EvilEye-Your image is blocked, I suggest trying a different host.  Definitely look at some anatomic references before you continue, but I do enjoy the playfulness of the pose.  :)

Only thing I have to say is it's huge!  Taking on something like this is going to be very difficult, but once it's finished it will probably be pretty epic.
Seems good so far, I have to agree that the doors don't look like doors.  Keep up the great work!
