Pixel Art / Re: Need help with my CLIFFS!
« on: July 17, 2009, 07:14:06 pm »
Hi Punika, you might try putting deeper shading where the grass overhangs the rocks. That will make it look like the grass is meeting a cliff and not just slapped on top. Also, you should think about how the grass interacts with the top of the rocks. If there's a rock that projects from the cliff face then the grass will also project out. Currently, the edge of the grass seems a little to strait and perfect. Does that make sense?

I can't say that I had gotten to the point of AA, but I was definitely planning on it.

Here's a little update, I've added in some text. The placement is still tentative. I'm still working on the creature because his leg is still a little funky.

[Updated]

Photoshop is seriously desaturating my .png files. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm creating this desktop background to be displayed at %400. So far, I've never done anything like this and I usually use heavy outlines in all my work. I'm not sure how I feel about it thus far. What do you think about the treatment of the foliage? The outline on the purple creature?

Trying some simple animations because that's something I'm not too hot at.

Pixen on Mac. It looks like each time I save the file the colors become more and more saturated.

I definitely understand the overcrowded to complex feel so I tried to reduce some detail.

The purple outline is another extravagant luxury; being the darkest colour purple should only be used for the darkest shadows, as you cannot afford outlines that are wider than what they outline.

Is it necessarily "wrong" to have a double outline? Can't areas of solid color indicate the deepest shadows?

Whoa, I just noticed that my colors have completely changed since the original. I'm not sure how that happened?

The comments are really helpful guys. I've added more shadows and tried to use more of my dark shade. I've also redesigned the ship a bit to appear more ship like. I've also tried to hint a bit more at landing gear with the projections from the bottom.

I haven't pixelled in far too long so I started working on this ship because they're my favorite. I like to give it more dimension and pop, maybe diversify the colors and get some interesting shading tones and take this to the next level you know?

it looks like the street in the background isn't lined up (it changes height between the two buildings on the left.)  Also it looks like the building in the background next to the tree goes out into the middle of the street.
You're right. I'll fix those right away.

The gloves feel rather...flat and generic--not like your typical choice-selector-glove, you know?
I removed the gloves to see if I liked it better. I think it make it look less busy.

Pixel Art / CD Artwork

Hi, I made this artwork for a local band. Any suggestions? Something that just looks wrong? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Front and back of booklet

Back cover

Inside booklet (no text yet)

Tray card

The actual CD (four colors, the white will be transparent)

[EDIT]

I made a new CD. Any better than the first version?

Also, an updated front cover without the gloves and a modified "L".
