Pixel Art / Re: Sprite

Awesome, and even better for a first pixel work. Kind of reminds me of Mint from Tales of Phantasia. The only thing I can think that I would change is to add a bit of shading to the outlines (also known as sel-out), since they look a little flat right now. But I love the overall style, and the light shading of the solid areas.

Possibly the only medium more outdated than pixel art is cel painting. So what do I do?

General Discussion / Re: Scrolling Backdrop perspective?

Ok so exactly how am I supposed to make backgrounds that have depth like how they look in Megaman X.  I don't want to put simple profiled views of buildings if I don't have to.
Do you have some screenshots, or better yet videos of the kind of scene you have in mind? I think I remember some SNES game doing fake perspective on buildings using clever scrolling and palette shifting. Might have been one of the Megaman X games, but I haven't played them in many years so I'm not sure.

Pixel Art / Re: Atalanta Animations

Looks good. I'm working on a game with this exact same mechanic :)  Except my animation uses very few frames because I needed so many variations.

For the animation, maybe you could add a little change to her right leg. Since her left leg moves out and bends a bit, then the other leg should bend too. Nothing too noticeable, just not nothing. Also, maybe the bow string could vibrate a bit after it snaps.

As for the drawing, I think some darker shadows would be good. It's good that you put dark stripes periodically so she won't be totally invisible in front of a light background, but for a player character she still doesn't stand out quite enough, IMO. The overall proportions/shapes look good as they are though, so just one more shading level on her robe and some palette fiddling should do it.
